• Aug. 31, 2007 - Out with the old and in with the new!
I am so exited this morning! I am beginning to have a whole new focus on my homeschool experiences with my DD. As I have been reading others blogs here, I realized the fundamental thing lacking in our hs experience was FUN! Much as I am loathe to admit this, I have been trapped in the same boring routine for years. So today, we're going to have some fun, fun, fun! As part of our math curriculum, we've been doing some "Market Math" And as it is labor Day w/e, I think we'll mosey on over to the wallyworld and take a gander at the school supply bargains. I'll see just how much Dd has already learned about money management, and we can laugh alot along the way. Our focus, and Bible reading for today is "This is the day the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it." And you know what is so fantastic? We will! Have a great day everyone!
Thank you for your warrior heart and posting such a strong and truthful word on my post regarding the school in NYC. I love it when believers stand up and are counted. The good news -- we win in the end!!
Reading your blog, I see we have quite a lot in common. I too - was saved just a few years ago (1993) Have an older son - off to college - on his own and am educating only my DD (10) at home.
Please feel free to stop over to my blog and email anytime with questions/concerns/praises - I have found having someone to run with in this journey - especially only having one at home can be such a great asset! Especially another overcomer...
I found the biggest issue for us, was outside outlets - finding other families - freinds for my DD - that had same beliefs/values as our family in search of other girls my DD's age group. I started a homeschool Ice Skate Day -- then after six monts one day I stood there and saw an answer to prayer....my daughter - then 7 - surrounded by wonderful girls her own age - all Christian homeschoolers -- I wept and was humbled by Hic precious gift. We are now blessed with many, many sweet friends - her small circle is about 10 girls - the larger circle over 30 -- seriously -- God answered this prayer in a big way!!
