I am going to like today is my last day, and tomorrow is too late, say goodbye to yesterday! Live this moment like its my last, leave things in the past, and make no more regrets!

December 21, 2009 - Gentle As A Dove

"Gentle as a dove". We have all heard that saying. While I cannot stand the sound of doves, I know that they are extremely loyal and gentle creatures. I am not a gentle person by nature. I don't have a syrupy voice, my hands aren't soft and dainty, I am not petite and tiny. Physically I do not look gentle, and sometimes my spirit isn't gentle either. Actually... lately, I haven't been gentle at all, and Mom has had to get on to me about being gentler. I really need to like memorize:

Proverbs 15:1
A gentle response deflects fury, but a harsh word makes tempers rise.
I've come to realize most of the time I do not answer gently. That is not good. I have been thinking lately about being gentle. I am going to be a mama soon and I want to be so gentle and loving to my sweeties. I don't want to raise my voice at them and be harsh. I don't want to be harsh to them, I want to be gentle.

Gentleness is not only a physical attribute, but a spiritual and behavior attribute. It also shows others that we are chosen of God.
Colossians 3:12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with feelings of compassion and with kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
I want everything I do to show that I am a child of God and that its Him they see, not me. When I am harsh to anyone, I am not showing them the gentleness of our loving God. If you are a believer and follower of Christ, then you must be gentle to everyone!
2 Timothy 2:24-26
And a slave of the Lord shouldn't fight. On the contrary, he should be kind to everyone, a good teacher, and not resentful when mistreated.  Also he should be gentle as he corrects his opponents. For God may perhaps grant them the opportunity to turn from their sins, acquire full knowledge of the truth, come to their senses and escape the trap of the Adversary, after having been captured alive by him to do his will.
We are supposed to be gentle, kind and inclined to teach others. By doing those things we show everyone how they can be brought out of the snare of satan and into the hand of God. When we are gentle physically we cause others to be gentle. When I am harsh to someone, I get harshness back and then I want to return the harshness. It is a vicious cycle. When someone is harsh, show gentleness to them and you will show gentleness.
Titus 3:2
To slander no one, to avoid quarreling, to be friendly, and to behave gently towards everyone .
Being gentle is holding your temper when you want to be harsh to someone, being gentle is biting your tongue when you want to yell at your sibling, being gentle is being tender. I am trying to be more gentle in the way I talk, act, behave, and carry myself. I want to be gentle. Jesus was gentle. He spake softly and was very gentle with everyone He came in contact with. I want to be like my Savior and I want to be gentle!
Ephesians 4:2
Always be humble, gentle and patient, bearing with one another in love.
I need to learn that and do it!

December 19, 2009 - Whiter Than Snow

that is what I woke up... if you know me, you know I DO NOT LIKE SNOW! So I complained (*gasp*) about it on my Facebook and promptly got a smack about complaining about it. First Mom said I need to learn to be positive about it then MamaArcher told me to go look up these Scriptures:
Psalms 51:7
"Sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow."

Isaiah 1:18
"Come now," says ADONAI, "let's talk this over together. Even if your sins are like scarlet, they will be white as snow; even if they are red as crimson, they will be like wool."
Ok... so I need to stop complaining about the snow since it serves as a reminder that I am clean in His sight and my sins are no more. HalleluYah! What a blessed sign from our Savior!

Sometimes we just need a little smack upside our heads to come back to where we need to be.

December 17, 2009 - Do You See What I See?

I was putting some laundry in the washer in our *NEW* laundry room (YAY!) and lifted my head and saw this:

Isn’t it tremendous? How can you look at that and not believe there is a loving and awesome God?! I sure can’t! Clouds and sunsets and sunrises have to be my favorite part of His creation. They are gorgeous! When I see that, I see a loving God.
What do you see?

December 14, 2009 - In Love

I am soo adoring not only this song, but the meaning behind it. Brayden and Talitha wanted their marriage to be an example to all of how the Savior feels about His people: Us.
This is just beautiful and precious!

Such a wonderful reminder that we need to be constantly ready for our bridegroom to come get us!

Matthew 25:6 It was the middle of the night when the cry rang out, `The bridegroom is here! Go out to meet him!'
I'm so looking forward to the day when my bridegroom comes! I'm in love with this song! :D

December 10, 2009 - CcubedN

I don't remember how I came up with CcubedN, but when I did everyone LOVED it and it is a family favorite. Its also quick and easy which makes it great for when the day gets away from you and you realize its after six, the kids are hungry, dad is on his way home and you haven't made dinner. :D
CcubedN stands for Creamy Cheesy Chicken and Noodles. Pretty explanatory, eh?

Ingredients:

2-3 Chicken Breasts
1 6oz. package of Cream Cheese
1-1 1/2 cup Shredded Monterrey Jack cheese
2-3 cloves Garlic
2-16oz. packages of Noodles. (Whichever you want. I like Penne Rigate)
1/2 cup Milk
a little bit of ranch dressing (my secret ingredient)
Directions:
Put the noodles in a pan of boiling water to cook. Cook the chicken all the way with the garlic, onion, and italian seasonings. Chop up the chicken into small pieces and put back into pan, adding in the Cream Cheese, Ranch and Milk. Medium heat til soft and creamy. You may have to add more milk to get the right consistency of creaminess. Keep on low til the noodles are done.
When the noodles are done, pour the sauce over the noodles, and stir well. Make sure the noodles are covered with the sauce. Put in a oven safe dish and shred some MJ over the top and bake for about 15minutes on 400' or until the cheese is slightly brown and crunchy on top.
Serve with your favorite veggies. We had it with Chilli Corn Salad for dinner, but its also really good with Fried Green Beans too.

That is my own special recipe. Its simple and easy and cuts down on your time in the kitchen with is GREAT for me. ;)

December 7, 2009 - "A Date That Will Live In Infamy"

You all know what that date is: December 7th, 1941 when the naval base of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was surprisingly attacked by the Japanese navy. This attack brought the United States into World War II.
At 6:09 a.m. on December 7, six Japanese carriers launched the first wave of 183 planes that included: dive bombers, horizontal bombers and fighters. The Japanese hit American ships and military installations at 7:55 a.m. That first wave attacked Ford Island. At 8:30 a.m. the second wave of 180 Japanese torpedo bombers, attacked the fleet anchored in Pearl Harbor. The battleship Arizona was hit with an armor piercing bomb that penetrated the forward ammunition compartment. The bomb blew the ship apart and it sunk within seconds.

All together nine U.S. fleet ships were sunk (two of them were raised out of the ocean and returned to service later in the war) and twenty-one ships were severely damaged. Three of the twenty-one were irreparable. The Japanese sank and damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, one minelayer, and 188 aircraft. The power station, shipyard, maintenance, fuel and torpedo storage facilities, the submarine piers, and the headquarters building (home of the intelligence section) of Pearl Harbor were not hit.
The death toll of the attack reached 2,350, including 68 civilians, and 1,178 injured. The loss of military personnel at Pearl Harbor was1,177 and they were from the Arizona. The Japanese losses were minimal with 29 aircraft, 5 midget submarines and 65 servicemen killed or wounded.

This attack by the Japanese was intended to subdue the US Pacific Fleet and protect Japan's advance into Malaya and the Dutch East Indies. Both the US and Japan had long standing plans for war in the Pacific that were always updated as strains between the two countries constantly increased during the 1930's.
The attack was an important encounter of World War II. Though the US has already been planning to deliver a formal declaration of war, this event brought it to pass sooner than the government had intended and pushed the US public assessment from isolationism of war to the acceptance of participating in it as being inescapable. The lack of warning led President Roosevelt to call December 7th "a date which will live in infamy."

December 7th has lived in infamy for 67 years. The living survivors, of whom the numbers are dwindling, remember that day with sadness because of the comrades they lost and the heavy blow it left them.
Remembering our veterans is a very important task that shows we appreciate their service to our country. So on "the date that will live in infamy" take a moment to remember the 2,402 killed and 1,282 wounded at Pearl Harbor and if you know a veteran who was there, let them know that you appreciate their service!
