Jan. 28, 2009 - Something I just had to share!
How one little girls prayer changed everything....
We hear it all the time in church, we read it every day in our bible. Prayer can move a mountain, prayer defeats the enemy! Prayer changes everything! We hear all the time, "How there is POWER in PRAYER!" We read the very words from our Lord, if we would just seek him diligently, come to him and just ask for his help, then he would answer, he will deliver us.
We read in it over and over in the bible, yet time and time again we struggle to pray faithfully. We hear testimonies and see how he has followed through with his word.
Yet many of us still sit in the midst of what we face. Well today, friends and family can I say that one little girls giving and her strong will in dertermination for a response of her daily and nightly prayer changes everything.
Something so small and simple became so big and wonderful. Friends and Family I have seen God do something amazing through a little girl and in a little girl in the moments of her starting this pursuit and leading up to this day. Not only have I witnessed this in her but it has changed me personally.
Let me ask you, How faithful is God really? Have you ever witnessed God move in your life before? What about in someone you know?
I have many times! Yet so often as we witness his move, many of us tend to forget the things he has done for us because our focus has shifted to the stuff we are in. So to this, I would like to show you the answer he has said all along and how he used one little girl to show us the answer once again! Thanks be to God, for he is so patient with us!
The Gift:
Just this last Thanksgiving there was alot talk about Christmas! Christmas... now just the word can turn a childs eyes if they are old enough to remember what it is. My soon to be four year old listened to all the talk later to ask her questions. So again as we always do each year we sat and talked about Christmas and the birth of our Precious Lord, Jesus Christ! Wow! What a moment that was and how precious. After we continued to talk she quickly remembered the very word "Brithday"! Yet another word most children remember if they are old enough.
This wee little one has a love for cakes and most always you get one at a birthday right. But Christmas was Christs birthday. So she asked, the whopper of a question for any child her age. Jesus will have a birthday cake to, right mommy? What would you of said?
Ok a birthday cake now this is something I honestly never thought of. Why couldn't he have a birthday cake? After all it was his birthday! Most of us celebrate Christs birth, but how many of us trully celebrate this wonderful day. How could I not do this small simple request from this little one whom wants to celebrate and eat cake.
So I decided she wants a birthday cake for Jesus, she is going to give him a birthday cake. There will be no questions. Not once did I let the thought cross my mind of how silly this sounded, I mean after all how is he going to eat this cake for him? Nor did I take into consideration of what our family would say. For the most part when everyone thought is was so sweet. Few laughed.
All I knew was this little one wanted to give Jesus a birthday cake and he was going to get one. I am sure in heaven he smiled down on her that day, because of her pursistance for her plan. So as time grew closer we began planning the cake. What type of cake was she wanting for this precious celebration? What color of Icing? What would we write on the cake and how did she want to decorate it? This all had to be the way she wanted it. A child is giving a special gift to a very special someone in her life it had to be perfect in her way. And so it was.....
She wanted to make a Strawberry cake with strawberry icing. We wrote out "Happy Birthday Jesus" in pink and white hearts. When it was complete she added in a few places on the cake, Colorful Christmas M&M's to complete her gift. I have never seen a child put so much time and effort in to her creation or have I seen one so excited about her creation and what it was for, as she was this day and giving it to her special friend.
We have a big picture of the book of John in the image of Jesus hanging on our wall. In the beginning she went to it and told him, he was gonna have a cake on his birthday. The day of completion of her cake for him, she went to his picture and said Jesus Your Cake is Ready."
Christmas morning came and the first thing she said when she woke up were these exact words, "Happy Birthday Jesus, Today is your birthday." Now the moment she has waited so long for has come. We went and began our morning and the afternoon finally came when we got to the families house to wrap up this momentous celebration. Priceless!
We got the cake out, we sang "Happy Birthday to Jesus" and the kids blew out the one med sized white candle we had by the cake that day. She was so excited to give this wonderful gift and to eat a cake she had been apart of making that day. But it was so much more. Still a child and still learning. She remembers hearing us say, Just ask Jesus and in his time he will answer!
Hah, there it is again. "Just ask Jesus and he will come through for us! What was she praying for? What was so important to her that she went to Jesus daily and nightly from the first day of winter to now, pooring and praying her heart out! You will find the answer in her simple prayer she said daily and nightly below:
Dear Jesus,
Please will you bring me some snow so I can play all day. I want to make snow angels, I want to have a snow ball fight like little Bill, I want to make an snow man. Please Jesus, Please, Please, Please, make it snow. Thank you!
Amen!
A small request from a child with a simple Prayer daily and nightly! Today, as many of us know from looking outside, Today, her daily and nightly, small but simple prayer request was answered with a foot of snow on the ground. When she woke this am I walked her to the window, I said calmly, "Guess what is outside today?" She lit up and her eyes so big, with a smile on her face, I pulled back the curtains and she seen her snow that she had been waiting for. My heart trembled as I watch her and the excitement all over her. I couldnt get her ready fast enough so she could get out and play. She grew so anxious and teared up claiming, "I have snow, I have snow!, Mommy it snowed!"
This morning was her day. A simple little gift from a wee little one, became such a big gift for our Lord on his special day. So to show her his way of saying, "Thank You"! He granted her one tiny simple prayer and gave her snow!
As we headed to the door she lit up, the door opened, her eyes grew big, and she bolted out the door. I anticipated her thank you but she was so excited she booked it out the door and threw the snow up in the air. She ran and fell, she dived in to make her snow angels all over the yard. She tried to make her snow man, she even planned her first three snow balls and whom would be her targets. She looked up with a smile, a tear filled her eye and she screamed once again, "It snowed, I have snow!" When it was all said and done, she came back in and looked at his picture with a smile, "I have snow! I have snow!" I bent down and I realized then what God had done for this wee little one. I began to tear and I glanced up to say my "Thank you!," The words came out but from a wee little voice. "Thank you, I have snow!"
Jesus answered her this day by sending the snow her way. A child with so little to give, so little understanding, Yet with a big heart, and strong will of dertermination, she received this day from our Lord! In this I have relearned what I already knew, but in a powerful way! God used a child, a child he gave to me, in a powerful way. That means a lot to me personally because he took the extra time to send the extra help our way.
He makes the time to send our way a little extra help to learn what ever it is we find so hard to learn. He is patient with us even when we are stubborn to his ways. He is forgiving each time we fall, each time we turn a deaf ear, he is loving always no matter what!
I hope you received a blessing by reading about this blessing! Abby received hers today. How awesome he is, How faithful he is! It took a lot of prayer but she never gave up, it took some time, but today her wait is over. Abby got her answer this morning when she awoke. Her words all this day are this, " Mommy, I have snow, Jesus bring me snow, I love the snow, I love the snow, He bring me snow mommy! Thankyou Jesus for my snow!"
Blessings to all,
In Christ Love,

'Have faith in God,' Jesus answered. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, "Go, throw yourself into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins'" (Mark 11:22-25).
"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it" (John 14:13-14).
