Chore Charts
Back in the fall I found these neat little chore charts to replace our old ones. They are all magnetic. No stickers to mess with. Both the boys have their own and are responsible for keeping up with their chores.
Here's how it works:
There are seven chores on the chart per day
Once they complete a chore they put a magnet on that chore.
If all 7 chores are done without having to be ask then they earn $1.00
If only 6 are done that equals .75 cents -----5 chores done equals .50 cents------4 chores done equals .25 cents and less than 4 chores completed equals 0.
So the potential is very good to make at most $7.00 per week. Very good I thought.
The chores are things like make your bed, clear your place at the table, saying please and thank you, etc..... Very age appropriate. There are blank magnets also if you want to make up your own chores.
Each week I review the chores assigned for the week and if they are mastering those chores well I replace them with new chores. Or if there is something we need to work on i.e. like keeping your hands to your self, then I'll add it to the chart until the behavior is better.
It's just teaching responsibility in a positive way. They like having their own chart and keeping up with it. It's a great motivater.
