Good Afternoon from the house on the Bay :)

I know, I know it's been a few days or more since I last write.  So a quick update...
I flew Eden and our "new" cat, Rusty up to Anchorage last Sunday (March 16-180 for her annual Urology appointment, and kitty came along for her vet appointment to have her spade and have her shots.  Bob remained in town with Tanis and Emma to keep working on the Fly Shop.

A friend loaned us her soft pet carrier that would fit under the seat, it wasn't long before the cat had learned to pop the snap on the top of it and unzip it.. UGH.  I notice that it was out when a tail went by my legs and grabbed it .. IN FLIGHT!!!  Our pastors wife was beside me so she assisted along the way during our carnival ride!  The flight passed quickly with a stop in Cordova and then we were soon in Anchorage. .. yes on Angel wings!

From there we went to baggage claim to collect our checked baggage and then to the curb to wait for our shuttle to our hotel in downtown Anchorage.  Once picked up, we had a 20 minute ride to the hotel.

Once we were settled in, it was 3:30 p.m. and time to do some exploring (walking) around Anchorage.  The cat was content to be left in the room (yes, with kitty litter :) ).  Eden was excited to find a park we could play at, so I checked the "map" in the hotel room and took it with us and off we went.  We'd made it a few blocks and realized that we wern't on the best of streets, so headed down a block to the left in hopes we'd have a better "feeling" .. and what did we spy?  It was a MALL!!!  Imagine that a Mall within 5 blocks of our hotel.. so I introduced Eden to what a Mall is (yes, she's been to them in Seattle, but you never can be sure if she "remembers"!!!).  We had a blast, she was hysterical saying that each dress shop was a "Princess Store"!!!  So there were A LOT!  Being Sunday when we arrived the stores closed at 6 p.m. so we headed back to our hotel and then over to dinner before returning for our night of settling in, knowing Monday was going to be a very full day.

Monday was an early start at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast, then going to an 8:30 a.m. Vet appointment for Rusty.  We finished up there at 9:15 a.m. and took a taxi ride to Eden's Urology appointment scheduled for 10:00 a.m. but they took us early at 9;30 a.m. :)

I'd expected that it would turn into a long day with medication to relax her and the UVC too, but Dr. Allen just wanted to touch base and check in.  We were released within an hour and back on our way to the hotel.. yeah with a whole day a head!  So instead of planning a "down day" doing Bible study, it turned into a very busy day walking and seeing shops and things in downtown Anchorage while kitty was having her surgery and being taken care of.

We returned to the hotel at 3 p.m. for lunch and a sit down.  We called the vet and they said Rusty was ready any time and that they closed at 6 p.m.  So knowing that the soft kennel didn't work, we took a taxi cab to a pet store and bought a hard sided kennel that would still fit under the seat as carry-on.  And shopped around there until 5 p.m. then over to collect Rusty who was ready to see us and head some place comfortable and low key.  We were back to the hotel by 6:15 p.m. and lay low for the rest of the evening.

Tuesday we slept in until 9 a.m. and headed for breakfast, then came back to pack and get ready to head to the airport for our 3:30 p.m. flight.  We were there with plenty of time to relax, check in and go to the observation area to watch the planes come and go.  The plane was on-time and it was a very good trip back down the "milk run" as we call it through Cordova and then into Yakutat.  Eden enjoyed her seat by the window, we had the middle seat open and I was on the aisle.  Rusty remained under the middle seat napping the entire time- Phew.  Thank you God for Your cover and care during this time away.  I can't tell you good it was to get home and away from the rat race (alone).

This past week we've been full force on the Fly Shop.. planing, sanding, verithaning.  It seems like we have so much to go with our "opening" still scheduled for April 1st.  But truthfully there isn't much more to go in the "building" side of things.  So slowly but surely things are coming together.  Merchandise should begin arriving this week and it'll have to stay boxed until we are finished sanding and wiped and cleaned up for the last time.

TODAY:
Happy Easter, it was an early start.  It's tradition that the ladies of our Church put on the brunch for the other congregations which is after the sunrise service (this year was scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at the boat harbor).  Ginger and I met at 6:30 a.m. and began stiring pancake batter, making scrambled eggs for the crockpot, cinnamon rolls, orange juice, sausage, etc.  The crowds began arriving at 7:45 a.m. and we were "almost" finished and ready.  Everyone seems to enjoy the fixings and then it was clean up time and heading for home to get ready for 11:00 a.m. service.

We had a worship service that lasted 45 minutes.  Very well done, a blessing.

The wind continues to raw outside, blowing up to 60 knots.  It's to subside early this afternoon but continues to hit the house still currently.  Ah, Spring time in Alaska!!

Well it's time to head for the Hanger once again to resume some work there.  May God touch you in a special way this Easter season... Jesus IS the reason for the season.

Blessings abound - Teen
