The kids helped with the crust and the blue part of the flag. It would look so much prettier if it was on something other than a cookie sheet, but I don't have any 13" x 18" serving platters. It still tastes good ![]() Have a happy day! Show And Tell Friday~ Noah's Birthday Last Week
It's that time again... Last week my 3ds Noah turned 10 ! I can't believe it has been a whole DECADE. We had a lot of fun. Our friends that were visiting us this last week arrived on his birthday. We had a treasure hunt, cake , presents, and good times.
Now.... *** Remember in Show and Tell Friday ...the best way to get a comment is to give a comment. ***
If you want to join us just... ~Make a Show and Tell Post and make sure it is wholesome. It can be pretty much what ever you want to share. It could be about you ...or your family ....or what is going on in your homeschooling. My cover girl's article in Brio Magazine

2:27 PM, Jul. 4, 2008 .. Posted in Show and Tell Friday .. 11 comments .. Link Click the graphic for more S&Ts from Mary! It's a "birthday" theme for Show and Tell this week! The closest I can come to joining in the fun with that is the fact that this month is my young homeschooling friend's 21st birthday! To honor her (but mostly because it happened to work out that way) I am going to post a picture of the two-page spread the July issue of Focus on the Family's Brio Magazine printed. So, with no further ado, Happy Birthday, Jessica! Brio did a nice job with the article she (and I) wrote over a year ago (these things take time to get published). Jessica, at 16 years old, portrayed my main character, Andi, a 12-year-old. Another trivia fact: Jessica was the first youngster to read my Andi stories, so it seems fitting that she should be on the cover. Happy Birthday, Jessica! ![]() It's probably best that the print is too small to read. I'd no doubt get in real trouble for posting this otherwise. As it is, it's an advertisement for Brio, so how can they object to that? Go on over to your local Christian bookstore and pick up a copy if you'd like to know what the article says.
Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!
Today my daughter turns 17! Seems like just yesterday she was born and then we were planning her sweet sixteen party. Sixteen was a busy year for her, she turned 16, got her license, got her first job, got her G.E.D and started classes at the community college. She is growing up way to fast for me! What a lovely young lady you are! We love you baby girl!!
To Everyone else, Have a great and wonderful 4th of July!! The Theme for Show and Tell ( only if you want to)
Tomorrow is my 39th birthday. So in the spirit of it all I thought I would have a theme for those who want to join me. I thought it would be fun to have something related to birthdays in our Show and Tell's. If you don't that is fine too. I just thought it would be fun. Blessings and ((HUGS)) !!!
THM - July 2, 2008 Homeschool Freedom and Trailblazers - Freebie FinderThe word "homeschool" didn't come about until the late 20th century. But the idea of homeschooling goes back to the beginning of time. Until compulsory education laws became common in the States, around 1918, most American citizens were taught at home by their parents or hired tutors. The model of one-on-one teaching is hard to beat! I looked around for a good “History of Homeschooling” online and the best one I found was on Wikipedia. Here is the article. If you are interested in learning more about how homeschooling came to be what it is today you will want to read this article. As a homeschool mom I owe a debt of gratitude to the many people who homeschooled before me. It is amazing to me to see what has happened in the movement in the 13 years we have been involved in it. I remember when I first started telling people we were going to homeschool back in the early 1990’s the common response was “Is that legal?” From that we have gone to the pretty much an acceptance of homeschooling as a viable option for education in most people’s minds. So join me in celebrating the people who paved the way for us today! Below are some interesting links and freebies that have to do with how homeschooling has gotten where it is today. Here is an article entitled The Founders of the U.S.A. Learned Without Public School Here is a fun and encouraging list of Famous Homeschoolers. If you have never looked up a list like this it is fun to look at and think about the possibilities of the future of our kids. At the Moore Foundation you can learn about the Moore Formula developed by homeschool pioneers Dr. Raymond and Dorothy Moore. Dr. Moore and his wife are homeschool pioneers. He is frequently called The Grandfather of Homeschooling. Here is the book Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto you can read free online. John Taylor Gatto is a former teacher and education activist. He has written many books on the problems with public education. HERE is site with links to many of his writings in pdf form, including his 1990 Teacher of the Year speech where he lambasted the public school system in America. Here is an interesting interview with John Holt a public school teacher in the late 1970’s who became one of the best known proponent of homeschooling. HERE you will find the frequently asked question section of the John Holt website. HSLDA has the transcripts to several of their radio programs on the theme of Homeschooling Through History. You will find them HERE. Charlotte Mason has had a huge influence on homeschooling. If you missed the free links I provided in THM last week you will find them HERE. Happy Homeschooling, Jamin
