I just finished reading my first book on how to get published - "Publishing Confidential" by Paul B. Brown (sorry Paul, but I borrowed my library's copy). Yes, I realize I'm not quite there yet (about halfway through writing the first draft), but it's given me an insight into the world of the editor, the agent, and the publisher. Part of me is under the impression that portions of my book will likely be changed by one of these three people somewhere along the line. I figure it'll probably be easier to change something or work with them before I get too entrenched and have to make some significant changes before we can move forward...
