PROVERBS 22: 6 **Train up <02596>** a child <05288> **in the way <01870>** he should go <06310>: and when he is old <02204>, he will not depart <05493> from it. Hmmmm....Dedicate, discipline, to narrow....and Who is known as "the Way"? Interesting thoughts for this time of year.
2596 chanak khaw-nak' a primitive root; properly, to narrow (compare 2614); figuratively, to initiate or discipline:--dedicate, train up. see HEBREW for 02614

Langenscheidt Pocket Dictionary  adds the word "to Consecrate"

This is the root of the word of Hanukkah....which means dedicate...We are to dedicate or make narrow our children to walk in 'the Way'. Only One is known as the Way.

The Hebrew completely contradicts the popular modern idea that all this verse is talking about is making sure each of our children is trained to his own bent or aptitude....Each of our children are to be brought up in the Way.

John 14: 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

6 Jesus <3588> <2424> saith <3004> unto him <846>, I <1473> am <1510> the way <3588> <3598>, <2532>the truth <3588> <225>, and <2532> the life <3588> <2222>: no man <3762> cometh <2064> unto <4314> the Father <3588> <3962>, <1487>but <3361> by <1223> me <1700>.

hodos (the way) corresponds with derekh (the way)

Other verses in scripture that use the word Chanak or Chanukkah (Strong's H2596, H2597 H2598).

Numbers 7: 10, 11, 84, 88 (only vs 10 and 11 copied here)And the princes offered for dedicating (CHANUKKAH) of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the princes offered their offering before the altar. And the LORD said unto Moses, They shall offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the dedicating (chanukkah) of the altar....

Deut 20:5  And the officers shall speak unto the people, saying, What man is there that hath built a new house, and hath not dedicated (CHANAK) it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man dedicate (CHANAK) it.
2 Chronicles 7: 5, 9 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated (CHANAK) the house of God. And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication (CHANUKKAH) of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.
2 Kings 8:63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated(CHANAK)  the house of the LORD.

Ezra 6: 16, 17 16  And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication (CHANUKKAH)  of this house of God with joy, And offered at the dedication (CHANUKKAH)  of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

Daniel 2: 3 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication (CHANUKKAH)  of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

Neh 12: 27 And at the dedication (CHANUKKAH)  of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication (CHANUKKAH)  with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

Psalms 30 A Psalm and Song at the dedication (CHANUKKAH) of the house of David.   I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.  O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.  O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.  Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.  For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.  And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.  LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.  I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.  What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?  Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.  Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;  To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Thank you to my friends who pointed theses verses out to me - not just the "TIME" we call Chanukkah, but the action of Chanukkah.

Elias's vocabulary is growing.   Of course no one but a mama would recognize it, but he says words that I hear

Peek-a-boo sounds like peboo

sock sounds like cak

Cat sounds like Ca

Rourke sounds like RA

Janney is probably his best word, he says either Jnneee or Danneee

And he says I don't know - IUUOOOOO

He understands so much - He knows to put his diaper in the garbage, no matter where the diaper change happens to be.. at my house or at a friends house.  He knows there are different receptacles called garbage.(In the bathroom and the kitchen)  He knows to put candy or cheese wrappers in garbage.  And he knows that apple cores and banana peels go in the compost, which is right next to the garbage.

When I fold laundry, he knows who each piece of clothing belongs to, and occasionally will pull things out of the basket and take it to them before I can fold it.  He helps me put the wet laundry in the dryer, or take it out when it's dry.

He helps me unload the dishwasher, handing me items one by one, and I'll say Thank you - and he repeats "tingdo"

His newest game is to tickle people, especially when you can see a little flesh between the shirt and pants, he comes and gives you a little guish

• Dec. 12, 2009 - The Curse of Chanukkah

Posted By Sombra
This is my third year not being able to Celebrate Chanukkah with friends.  Today is the party, and I'm sick. Stuart, Elias and I are home, the rest of the kids have gone.

Last year I was in hospital with Elias and his injured toe, the year before we were all sick for the whole week, all 7 of us, we all lay around like lumps, too sick to move, and the antibiotics that broke the bank (not covered by insurance) didn't even work.

So today I'm conversing with some people about whether or not we're even supposed to keep Chanukkah.

Let's get this straight - I KNOW it's not a Moedim - a time, set apart by God, Commanded to us (all Israel and the foreigners in the camp) to be a set apart day.. So when I keep Chanukkah, it's not out of obedience to God, it's out of brotherhood with my Jewish brothers, who are part of the family of Israel.

But Jeff is making me question some things.  I've heard other people make similar statements before, but I let them slide, you know.. allowing other people to be different, at different stages of their walk.. and so, I read with politeness, comment pleasantly..and move on.

But Jeff is getting me to sit up and pay attention.

Statement of fact -  John 10 22 Then came Hanukkah in Yerushalayim. It was winter, 23 and Yeshua was walking around inside the Temple area, in Shlomo's Colonnade.

But what is this telling us?  Is it a proof that Yeshua was celebrating the festival of lights? Is there anything in there that proves that all Israel kept Chanukkah?  This is a Jewish feast, not one kept by all of the tribes. Judah Maccabee was a Jew - not an Ephramite.. If Yeshua WAS celebrating this feast, he's a Jew.. I am not.

Now yesterday, I went through a lengthy study on how the book of Maccabees is PART OF, but not the completion  - of the Prophecy of Daniel about the Abomination of Desolation.

I could go through the book of Maccabees and do a lengthy study on how it shows us how to navigate the waters of the end times.

But does that mean I have to CELEBRATE it? - does it mean our house has to be decorated, or even that the candles have to be lit?  I hadn't planned on decorating, the only reason I did was because Janney saw decorations at Jessie's (piano teacher) and wanted to decorate too. I gave in to the delight of my 5 year old.  But all the celebration of Chanukkah is.. is a tradition of men. It is not a time we are commanded to set apart.

My goal this year was not to "celebrate" but to just read through the book of Maccabees, to learn from the book, to discern the history from the tradition, or myths, and teach my children from this about how God is at work in our lives.  I got trapped in the traditions of men when I gave in to my daughter's delights.

And now, I sit at home.. and think back on the last 3 years and realize.. .. Is God trying to tell me something?  Sick again?  Not able to "celebrate" again?  Is God trying to close the door?

No final conclusions have been decided, no discussion has yet been had with the family, but it all will.  Everything we do either draws us closer to God - or takes us away from God.  I want my steps to be walking towards him. This challenge.. means I have to pray, and wait on Him, and learn and then obey.

HOWEVER.. May I clearly state ------ this post, nor any of my previous posts - are about anyone but me. These posts are my inner reflections.. consider yourself privy to my private journal. I am NOT condemning anyone for how they are walking out their walk with God. I am NOT trying to be the Holy Spirit in any one else's lives.  I am merely trying to hear God and listen to Him and turn from my wicked ways and follow Him. - this is MY journey.

• Dec. 12, 2009 - Parsha VaYeshev

Posted By Sombra

I saw something cool in last night's readings.

I was trying to "SEE" Joseph as Yeshua and make all kinds of parallels.

Joseph had a dream.. his mother even bowed down to him.

But Rachel was already dead at that point.. his dead mother is going to bow down to him?

But the prophecy is not just about Joseph, it's about Yeshua - so .. Yeshua's mother and father too will bow down to him, as will his 11 disciples.. (but not Judas)

That part I got from Bill Cloud.

But, I wanted to keep going with the "seeing" Yeshua in the story of Joseph.

AMAZING

The Ishmaelites were carrying------who cares----why do we care what they were carrying to Egypt, they were merchants, I assume they were carrying merchandise.

BUT.. They were carrying Aromatic Balms and Resins.. HMMM The Magi brought Yeshua Balms and Resins.. called Frankinsense and Myrrh

THEN notice, that the Ishmaelites were going to Egypt with these things, well, So did Yeshua.. the Magi came and right after that we have the angel telling Joseph to pack up his family and flee to Egypt.

He's purchased by Potifar (man of authority - a God figure) and he is put in charge of EVERYTHING in the HOUSEHOLD and it's ALL BLESSED.. Remind you of Creation? Yehsua is the Father's Right hand - Authority.. and he's in charge of everything here on earth - the house that God built - and it's all blessed

Until

Joseph is TEMPTED by the "*****" Wife - temptress .. .. Yeshua tempted after the 40 days in the wilderness by the - tempter

Joseph of course flees from the temptation and says "no, I would never do that,I've been given everything but you.. "

Yeshua has been permitted everything but Sin..

So then.. Joseph is caught by the wife and he flees and leaves his coat

Satan thinks he has Yeshua beat, he's got him nailed to the cross, his garments are gambled for

and Joseph is judged guilty, though he's innocent and sent into the prison.

Yeshua submits to the Father, and takes on the sins of the world.. and the consequences and goes into Hades for 3 days

but even in the prison, Joseph is found favourable and is given authority over all that goes on in the prison..

and Yeshua is in charge of all the fallen angels and everything that is in Hades

So then come the dreams of the Cup Bearer and the Royal Taster

And this is the coolest part

You know the dreams so I'll just tell you what I saw.

The first dream is the believers, we are the branches of the true vine, and in the fullness of time, we have become fruitful.. but then we will be judged (pressed) and we will be found righteous - and we'll get poured back into the Lord's cup.. to continue to serve Him.

But.. the second dream is the unbelievers

the bread.. the seed.. .. the bread is in baskets, not in the earth where seeds should be. Bread is meant to nourish.. but these are in baskets on top of the head.. they think they're greater than our Head,God - and the birds of course represent the torture of Hades.. and notice, they do not return to Pharaoh - God.. to serve him .. they are never brought back to God.. but are consumed by Hades

Of course, the next part, which we didn't read tonight.. is about Yeshua coming out of the pit, and being made equal to Pharaoh who represents Adonai.. and yes - Yeshua IS equal to Adonai.. and the Children of Israel are rescued from certain death from the famine.. so to we will be rescued from certain death.. in the end times!

Create, Play and Share

Create, Play and Share – those are the titles on the buttons that popped out at me on the website for Tektoma, Game Tutorials Online. Create, Play and Share games is exactly what my kids were able to do after using these awesome tutorials for the free game making software, GameMaker.

Here is what the website is offering for a membership fee of $14.95 per month:

Engaging video tutorials for ages 7-17

  • Tutorials of varying skill levels and topics
  • Learn at your own pace in the comfort of your home
  • Natural progression helps develop technical skills
  • Customize your learning experience
  • Low monthly membership fee gives access to all our resources
  • New curriculums available monthly

Here is a link to a free preview of the Tektoma tutorials so that you can check it out before you sign up:

http://www.tektoma.com/members/tektoma/adminpages/racing_preview

Once you do sign up, you can try it for 14 day with no obligation. If your kids just aren’t “getting it”, according to the website, you can cancel with in that time and owe them nothing. But I think that your children, like mine, will want to learn more.

We downloaded the GameMaker software package directly to our computer FREE, just as you can. The Tektoma site gave us a free trial membership of three months so that we could try out all their resources and features to help us learn how to make games with the GameMaker software. We received a free 3 Month trial so that we could check out their offerings and let you know if they were totally awesome (or not).

The creators of these tutorials and their website have worked with kids extensively, so the site is very kid friendly and beginner friendly. I felt confident downloading the software through their site knowing that they are taking care to recommend only safe sites. So they care about my kids and my computer!

My daughter has created an arcade game at the beginner level and she really enjoyed it. She was able to use the tutorial with a minimum of frustration and now calls herself a “Geek” J

Not only did using the tutorials limit the kids' frustration level, but my little “Gamers” didn’t have to spend all day, everyday on the computer to create something worthwhile. They were able to accomplish making a game within a very reasonable amount of time as compared to downloading the software and using it on their own.

Well, I am glad that they are having fun, but just how is all this educational, you might ask? Well, someone might!

While my children were using the GameMaker software and the tutorials were teaching them how to make their own games, I observed that they had to use problem solving skills, employ logical thinking skills and there were times when they were just plain learning to be patient while they figured out what they had done wrong. They were extremely creative in making the games and in choosing what characters they would use. Next we have to figure out how to upload the game to the sharing site...

...we never stop learning!

Our family gives Tektoma Game Making Tutorials a big Thumbs up!

Hope you will check them out!

• Dec. 11, 2009 - Chanukkah and Scripture

Posted By Sombra
The story of Chanukkah is found in the book of Maccabbees. It happened in the time of what we consider the 400 years of silence, after the last prophecy of Malachi, and before the birth of the Messiah.

But what can we learn about Chanukkah from the scriptures. The book of Maccabees is apocryphal - not considered scripture, but written material about God, and His People, and History.  Hmm.. I should look up the meaning of the word in the dictionary, someone asked me if it was a Protestant word, as it isn't part of the Catholic Vernacular
a·poc·ry·phal  (-pkr-fl)
adj.
1. Of questionable authorship or authenticity.
2. Erroneous; fictitious: "Wildly apocryphal rumors about starvation in Petrograd . . . raced through Russia's trenches" (W. Bruce Lincoln).
3. Apocryphal Bible Of or having to do with the Apocrypha.

So it doesn't say anything about it having to do with denominations, unless it's the Protestants who question the authorship and authenticity

I was listening to a Bill Cloud CD and he was teaching on  Mark 13.  The same ideas are brought up in Matthew 24 and Luke 21 - these passages are all about Yeshua teaching the Disciples about how to discern the end to days.

Yeshua says in Mark 13:14 "Now when you see the abomination that causes devastationx standing where it ought not to be" (let the reader understand the allusion), "that will be the time for those in Y'hudah to escape to the hills.

Now, because I know the story of Maccabees, I know that this scenario has already happened in history. Antiocus Epiphanes meets the prophecy spoken of here.. but of course, if it's Yeshua speaking it, then it's not prophecy, because by the time these words are being spoken, the event of Chanukkah has already happened... HMM.. Let's dig deeper.

Cross reference this end times prophecy and we come to Daniel 12.  The end of it goes like this
7 The man dressed in linen who was above the water of the river raised his right and left hands toward heaven and swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a time, times and a half, and that it will be when the the power of the holy people is no longer being shattered that all these things will end. 8 I heard this, but I couldn't understand what it meant; so I asked, "Lord, what will be the outcome of all this?" 9 But he said, "Go your way, Dani'el; for these words are to remain secret and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will purify, cleanse and refine themselves; but the wicked will keep on acting wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand. But those with discernment will understand. 11 From the time the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 How blessed will be anyone who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days.
13 But you, go your way until the end comes. Then you will rest and rise for your reward, at the end of days."

Let's try to understand this, The man in Linen is of course Yeshua, talking to Daniel, and he raises his hand... time, times and a half..  Daniel doesn't understand this, Yeshua tells him not to worry, it's a secret, -sealed until the end of time - some will understand.. .. and here it comes  From the time of the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.  and anyone who makes it through and gets to the 1,335 day will be blessed... But for Daniel, don't worry, you'll die and then you'll be resurrected.

Let's focus on that part about the sacrifice.  The Regular Burn Offering... it's going to get cleaned up, then there will be an abomination - - an unclean animal will be offered on the altar - and from that day, we're to count 1,290 days.

Well, Antiocus Epiphanes offered a pig - an unclean animal on the altar - .. but 1,290 days came and went and it wasn't the end of days.  So something about this says that while that part of the prophecy has already come to be, there must be more to it.

Ok, back to Bill's teaching for a moment. He was talking about Greek V Hebraic thinking.  Greek thinking is linear, Hebrew thinking is cyclical.  If we apply Greek thinking to this Prophecy in Daniel, we can say that on the timeline, this has already come to pass.  The unclean sacrifice on the altar has happened.. and something about the 1290 days we don't understand, because that part hasn't come to pass.

But Hebrew thinking says, while part of it has already happened, we will come back to this prophecy on another trip around the circle and we'll learn something new, or.. in terms of history, this prophecy will happen again.. not just once, but it will happen again.

So I wondered. We know Yeshua was in the Temple at Chanukkah from the verse in John 10:22. It doesn't say he celebrated Chanukkah, but it is mentioned.  I wondered if this was chronologically before or after the Mark 13 stuff.  I looked in my Chronological Bible, and low and behold, yes, Jesus was in the Temple for Chanukkah.. and then later, he's talking about the Abomination Prophecy..

His Disciples would have known about the history of the Maccabees, so when he mentioned this Abomination of Desolation, they would have reflected back.. and the scripture says,
(let the reader understand the allusion)

Hold on, wait a second.  Scripture - God Breathed Scripture, New Testament Scripture is telling us not to miss the allusion, to UNDERSTAND the allusion.  But do we?  How can we? Unless we've understood what happened with Antiocus Epiphanes 2 centuries before the birth of Messiah.  Heck, this is my 6th time heading into Chanukkah and this is the FIRST time I've understood it as prophetic, and showing me about what it'll be like in the end of days.  If the reader is not to miss the allusion, perhaps, the readers should have a clue about what Chanukkah -or the Maccabeean revolt or the rededication of the Temple is all about.

And please know, it's not just about lighting candles and eating donuts and latkes and playing the dreidle game and eating chocolate coins.

• Friday - Happy Hanukkah!

Posted By BethSelah in Holidays

We're excited about this evening!  It's the first night of Hanukkah and it'll be a chilly one at that.  I was able to find the most beautiful candles this year.  They are white on top and fade to blue at the bottom.  They are hand dipped and actually made in America.  Can you believe it?!?

I'm going to make a frittata, salad, potato latkes, and fruit for this evening.  I'm still not sure what I'll make for the next seven nights.  We're so NOT used to fried foods anymore that I can't even think of what to cook.  I do know that we'll make doughnuts for some breakfasts and, of course, more potato latkes.

All the lights are so pretty at this time of year.  Between the Hanukkah candles and the Christmas tree, we're all lit up.  It's beautiful!

Happy Hanukkah!

"I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."  Luke 8:12

• Dec. 9, 2009 - That's SO WICK-ED

Posted By Sombra
If you've ever watched the movie The Incredibles, you're very familiar with that little kid at the end of the movie who, after seeing the Incredibles do their thing, proclaims with a loud, long drawn out.. "THAT"S SOOO WIICK-ED"

Wicked, the term today is used  to denote things of glory, things of delight, it's a word of praise, it's a word exclaiming how "hip" and "cool" a thing  or event or person is.

Hmm.

I've been asked to blog about the movie New Moon.  I laughed when I was asked to do this, as .. I have NO IDEA about the movie New Moon. It's so far off my radar.. so far.. that when my FB friends asked me if I had seen New Moon, I wondered what they were talking about, as it wasn't even close to the new moon, it was still a waning moon. - I miss read the question, the word "THE" was missing.  And my cluelessness was chortled at as the group fawned over the movie New Moon, not the biblical start of the new month.

So, I've been thinking, How can I blog about New Moon, if I know nothing about it.

Well, I can blog about what I do know.

I know that scripture says
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! ASV

So, that colloquial use for the word Wicked.. hmmm, it's already showing the degradation of our society, for if we're calling something that's a blessing, or a gift from God, or a MIRACLE.. if we're exclaiming "WICKED".. does this not fall under the subject of this scripture?  I think so.

Back to New Moon.  I know it's a movie about vampires. Avatar is a movie about reincarnation. The Golden Compass is a movie about killing God, Harry Potter a movie about witchcraft.  Are all these thing JUST MOVIES? Is it just entertainment?

Ok, so if it's just entertainment, are we supposed to rest, relax and fill our brains with this kind of stuff?

Romans 16:19 warns us For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I rejoice therefore over you: but I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple unto that which is evil.

God wants us wise to things that are good.  And Simple to that which is evil. Other version say INNOCENT to that which is evil.

Are you protecting your innocence by entertaining yourself with these things which Adonai calls evil?

Yes, I know you say you love God, and that watching a movie doesn't change the fact that you love him.

Really?  Is that what God has to say about this subject?

Romans12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

God says if you love movies like this.. your love for him is hypocrisy.. He wants you to LOVE HIM and ABHOR Evil - be repulsed by it. The mere idea that these movies contain this blatant glorification of that which is evil - WICKED - should cause you to be repulsed by them.

CJB uses this  phrase 9 Don't let love be a mere outward show. Recoil from what is evil, and cling to what is good.  and NIV uses 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.  Is your love for God more than just an outward show? Is it sincere?

I'm proud to say, though I was asked to write about New Moon - I'm relatively innocent of it's content, I'm simple to it's characters, themes, stars, plots, ... I know nothing about it other than it's name and it seems to be a hit.  My love for HIM is strong enough that I have not even been drawn to search out what this movie is about. What I heard was enough to recoil me and send me in the other direction.

Know what.. My kids have no desire either.  I brought them up with this Romans 12:9 verse in mind.  I used to repeat to them.."Be wise in the things of the Lord and be innocent to what is evil." I'm sure they were sick of hearing that verse.. but the message got through.

Have you read the book of Malachi recently?  It might be a good idea.  The Day of Judgment is coming.  We are his people (I know my audience is predominantly saved people who call on the name of Jesus for their salvation) WE ARE HIS PEOPLE.  Malachi was speaking to HIS PEOPLE.  So when Malachi wrote down what God told him to .. and he wrote 17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. "How have we wearied him?" you ask. By saying, "All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them" or "Where is the God of justice?"  in chapter 2... are you one of his people who do evil and call yourself Righteous because of the blood of Messiah?  Friends.. consider this. The wheat is the whole plant - but the seed is the part that it is grown for, the kernel, the berry. The chaff is the part that's thrown away.  YOU are the wheat.. but if your life is filled with watching movies such as these, that's all chaff.. it's all garbage.. and we know that in the end, it will be sifted and burned up

Luke 3:12 and Matthew  3:12 are essentially the same.
12 He has with him his winnowing fork; and he will clear out his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn but burning up the straw with unquenchable fire!"

Don't let your life be defined as chaff. It's just going to be burned up in the end. Be fruitful - for your testimony is your fruit.

• Dec. 9, 2009 - The Birthday Party

Posted By Sombra

By John & Marlys Hardcastle

WIFE TO HUSBAND: Darling! I have decided to have a big birthday party for you!

HUSBAND: Wonderful!

WIFE: On December 25th.

HUSBAND: That's not my birthday.

WIFE: I know, I know, but we'll just SAY it's your birthday.

HUSBAND: That's your ex-boy friend's birthday!

WIFE: That's okay, I have decided to call it your birthday.

HUSBAND: No, its not okay. Why don't you just pick any day that is NOT your ex-boy friend's birthday? Aren't you interested in what is true? In what is pleasing to me? Even enough to find out my real birth date?

WIFE: Now, now, don't get upset. I have decided that we'll just SAY it is your birthday. I've sent out the invitations and everybody is doing it so that makes it okay.

HUSBAND: It does?

WIFE: Yes, and you wouldn't want me to change the date and inconvenience anyone. I have decided it is okay.

HUSBAND: You've decided. I would be pleased if you would just take my hand and follow me and spend a few moments with me.

WIFE: Later, later. No time now. I have invited ALL the family. My Father and Mother and Uncle Bill and Cousin Betty and Ernie and all the kids and grandkids and, Oh, the children will love it! We'll do it for the children! They deserve it!

HUSBAND: For the children. I see, a day to exalt family...and you call it my birthday. Makes me think you love family more than me.

WIFE: Oh, you'll love it, too, I have decided. And we'll all give gifts to each other.

HUSBAND: This is supposed to be MY birthday? Yet you give gifts to others? Why?

WIFE: And I'll decorate the house...red ribbons and bows and...

HUSBAND: Red? Red is your ex-boyfriend'

s favorite color! I like blue and green. Blue skies, blue seas, green grass, trees, birds...

WIFE: Oh, I'm putting up a green tree decorated with gold and silver balls and we'll put gifts under it!

HUSBAND: Like the idolators throughout history....every green tree... That is idolatry.

WIFE: And I'll have to buy gifts and do lots of shopping and...

HUSBAND: ...so the God of Mammon will get his.

WIFE: It will be worth it! I'll decorate and bake cookies and fruitcake and...

HUSBAND: Sounds like you'll be really busy. Come away my beloved and spend a little time with me...a walk by the river, a...

WIFE: Later, darling. I'll be busy, but you'll love it...I've decided. The hustle, the bustle...oh, yes, and I've decided to have a nice baked ham...

HUSBAND: Charred swine's flesh! On what you SAY is my birthday and is not! Who is in charge here? Why do you just do YOUR THING and assume that I will put my stamp of approval on it? If you love me, why do you not DO the things that I say? Why do you not do things MY WAY? You don't even KNOW me! I suppose the next thing you'll do is dress your ex-boyfriend in a red suit and have him drop down the chimney!

WIFE: Uhhhh...

Christmas is celebrated on the same day the pagan Romans celebrated their satanic high day.

Re 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
