There is now a Volume 4 available in the Jonathan Park series! We have given these to our kids for Christmas the last couple of years and we really enjoy them. We have all learned a lot about Creation Science by listening to these exciting adventure stories. I will be getting Volume 4 for this Christmas! This is by far the best price I have found on these CD's -- $18.99 per set from christianbook.com.

If you have never seen these DVD's, they are absolutely fantastic -- so much better than any animal show you would ever see on TV. A great extra to give to your kids when they need a break from the books (or when you come home from the homeschool book fair), or you just want to enjoy a quiet evening together watching (and learning) something incredibly interesting! Also makes a great way to end your science study before summer.
"These DVD's present powerful evidence that proves that the designs of animals cannot be explained by evolution, but only by a Creator. These programs will inspire you to look more closely at the world around you as you enter the fascinating world of animals. For the past 20 years, Dr. Jobe Martin has been fascinating students with his lectures on the sophisticated designs of animals which are unexplainable by traditional evolution. Dr. Martin actually began his career as an evolutionist, but as his medical and scientific training progressed, he went through a revolution in his beliefs, eventually bringing him to a creationist stance. Approximate running time for Volumes 1 & 2 is 50 minutes and for Volume 3 is 80 minutes."

We used Exploring Creation With Astronomy this year and I just discovered that there are actual notebooking pages on the Apologia website to print off and use! I didn't know about those until just now or we would have used them. We are considering using Exploring Creation With Botany next year and I just looked at the notebooking pages. They are great! Just thought I would post this in case there are others using this curriculum who haven't checked out the website.
Go to Apologia's website and then click on the Elementary Science link on the left of your screen. It will show you the Young Explorer Series books written by Jeannie Fulbright. Under the picture of each book is a link for notebook pages that go along with each book.

My kids are 8, 10, 12 and 14 just to give you and idea of where were at this year. We are reading Exploring Creation Through Astronomy written by Jeannie Fulbright and then meeting with two other families every other week to do the projects or experiments. It is very low-key and easy to do and we have all learned so much together. Being committed to meeting with these families has really kept us on a schedule (one chapter every two weeks is very easy to do) and the kids look forward to getting together with the other kids. It has been really fun to focus on one thing (our solar system) for months instead of rushing through it! We have also enjoyed looking several things up on NASAs website during this study also. Because my 14-yr-old is busier with his schoolwork, he just sits in on the reading and doesnt go for the project time. He has been very helpful in adding to our discussion time after we read.
My 12-yr-old is also doing Lyrical Life Science on his own this year. He is more of an auditory learner and this is working really good for him this year. I made up a schedule for him to follow and he is doing great with it. At the beginning of his lesson time, he listens to the song three times. He then has his reading scheduled out over two or three days and does the workbook pages. This is being a great introduction to a lot of science terms before he does Apologias General Science.
My 14-yr-old is doing Apologias Physical Science this year. (He did the General Science last year). I bought the companion CD that has multimedia presentations to go along with the modules (chapters) and just adds to the book. I also made it easy on myself by purchasing a kit containing everything he would need for the experiments for the year. It cost a bit more but was worth it to me for us to not have to try to keep up with gathering/buying supplies ahead of time. He also follows a schedule (loosely) that I printed off of Donna Youngs website.
