~*~ Precious Gems ~*~ *Homeschoolers For Him *

• May. 25, 2007 -

I have started a new blog at http://hispreciousgems.blogspot.com/  This one takes forever.  The other one is easier to upload fun things like slideshows of pictures and colorful comments.  I will still keep this one for awhile but will use it strictly for homeschooling.  Also, my dear mom wasn't able to pull up the pictures from this site.  She is successful at viewing them on the other one so the change really is needed.

So...  the past week or so has been much better.  I guess we really needed a vacation to get a jumpstart back into schooling.  I've been sitting with Rebecca while she does her work and things go by so much faster!  She gets so easily distracted.  This morning, she had to do all 5 quizzes so I put a small table in the office with me.  She took her quizzes in record time and I was able to upload a bunch of photos from our trip to the Playroom yesterday.  I put all of the pictures on the other blog so go to it and check it out when you get the chance.  She was done with school by 11:15 a.m.!

I told her we'll go out today and look for a new nightgown.  The child is growing and needs new clothes.  I think that sounds like a good reward, don't you?

Well, I need to go spend some learning time with Emily so until next time...

• May. 15, 2007 - Some more photos of vacation

The parade at MGM StudiosThe girls played at "Honey, I shrunk the kids" play area.

This is Jay standing on a ship.  He was a volunteer in the Backlot Tour there at MGM.  Him and another lady were pretending to be swabbing the deck when all of a sudden they are under attack.  You can hear the guns and then the water would splash up.  After they were done, they showed us on a screen how they use effects- sound and visual- to make a movie.  It was pretty neat.  It was also funny watching him act.

• May. 15, 2007 - Back to reality

After a week of vacation in Orlando and a few days off before that, I hope we can get back in the groove with an easy transition.  The week of April 23- 27th, each of us girls were sick with a fever, runny nose and cough.  We did school on Monday and Tues. while I was down but by Wed., Becca had caught it.  She was down for the rest of the week.  I didn't make her do school work - I have in the past though.  Pushing too hard?  Anyways, we took the following week off to prepare for vacation but Becca had to do finish up from the week before.   She was starting to complain about literature and doing poorly on her seatwork and quizzes so I knew it was time for a break.

On vacation, we got to see our dear friends Angie and Morgan.  We hadn't seen them since they moved to Fl. in Sept/ Oct.  It was great!!!  We went to Sea World and Busch Gardens Tampa together.  Even though we were all exhausted from driving all night, it was so much fun.  Here's my favorite picture of them.

And here they are posing again on a rock

I might as well post a few more.  I didn't go camera happy because I have so many pictures from our past trips that I didn't want to become redundant.

Becca getting eaten by a hippo at Busch Gardens Tampa.

Angie and Morgan on the bumper cars-  cute picture!

Rhino Rally at Busch Gardens Tampa.

We also went to Downtown Disney, MGM studios and Magic Kingdom.  I haven't downloaded those pictures yet but will post them as soon as I can.  We went to Adventure Island twice but Jay wouldn't let me take my camera for the fear that I'd drop it in the water.    Time to get busy with our day so I'll post again as soon as I can.  later taters!

• May. 4, 2007 - been gone awhile, huh?

I know I have been scarce on here recently.  That really isn't my intent.  I am getting ready to go on vacation but wanted to just write a quick blurb.

Disney World, here we come!!!  Becca can't wait to go to Sea World!!!  Best part, we get to see Angie and Morgan again!  It seems like it's been forever since you guys were here in VA!

Gotta go finish getting ready!  Will post pictures when I get back!  later taters

• Apr. 21, 2007 - Homeschooling is...

Homeschooling is a selfless act of love that gives the child's fleeting formative years priority over second incomes, materialism, exotic vacations and time alone.  The benefits are worth it.
