Hi all, I thought I would share a little bit about my day, which has now made me laugh.
I'm tired today. My husband has gone-a-hunting and I find myself in a parenting marathon.
And my children are playing twenty questions with me, and wanting this and wanting that. Nothing serious of course, just stuff, and things. Stuff that I am, quite frankly just a little too tired for.
In my weariness I have been dishing out little cliche's and funny expressions in answer to my boys endless questioning, to the point where now I say one even if it doesn't have anything to do with the topic at hand.
"Momma, he's copying me" - I reply "Don't count your chickens before they're hatched"
:)
And my boys look at each other strangely and walk away to figure things out for themselves, just until I finish my cup of tea anyway.
all in good time
Rome wasn't built in a day
you can only do so much
que sera sera
what can you do?
nothing you can do
slow and steady wins the race
look before you leap
think before you speak
cross on the green not in between
do unto others as you would have others do unto you
when life gives you lemons make lemonade
if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen
talk amongst yourselves
accept the things you cannot change
play nice
behave
etc....
Now they are thinking up funny things to say to each other, that have absolutely nothing to do with what is going on.
And I thought to myself...this is kind of funny, amusing really, in an exhausting kind of way.
There must be a creative, unschoolerish way to call this a lesson, in what.....parables, similes, expressions, life lessons of some kind? write them down, check the spelling, correct them, grade them. Cross the t's dot the i's. That'll work.
Maybe have my boys write a skit, conversing in nothing but these crazy expressions and having full conversations that in the end didn't really say anything at all, and yet still make sense. That will keep them busy, that will teach them to play twenty questions with me on the week that hubby goes-a-hunting.
Take care everyone, hope you are all having a good day. What are some of the funny things happening in your house today?
