Where In The WORLD Are We?

Passion

Passion is defined as an intense, driving, or overmastering feeling or conviction. The reason I am concerned with the idea of passion today is because I was reading The Choice by Nicholas Sparks and the characters were discussing how a great teacher is someone who is passionate about their subject. I must say that my homeschool is lacking fun and passion. I have become too determined and routine oriented. I don't want learning to be boring for my kids. I feel that I am still in the learning stages of being a good homeschool mom. My goal is to teach my kids how to be passionate about learning. But, first I must work on making it fun and express some passion for it myself instead of making learning mundane. First, I must veer away from my ideas of what learning is. Homeschooling and traditional schooling are two different things. Now, I decided that home school was better and now is the time to start acting like I really believe that instead of modelling traditional education at home. I am still learning what that will look like. But, I do know that homeschooling means that the kids and I get to figure it out together, one step at a time.

I am heading into my 10th yr of hsing and am still trying to work all this out. So here's hoping by time my last child is ready I could have it right and I'll be just relieved if my others don't need intensive therapy from yrs at home with me, LOL :)

My first two years of homeschooling were not 'fun' for the most part. I needed to loosen up. Once I did this year has been great. I took the pressure off myself with the schedule and routine. If we get it done today great, if not tomorrow is another day. And once you ease up the learning comes naturally and fun. I wish I had known that the first two years!
