Where In The WORLD Are We?

About Me:

We're a homeschooling family who loves to travel. My husband, Rob, works at a university and this has enabled us to see many different countries. We have 4 boys. They are Robby-11, Justin-10, Alex-7, and Connor-5. I write this blog from the perspective of a Catholic, American woman adjusting to living in Saudi Arabia. I know that other people have been curious about what it is like for a Western woman here. So, I am very honest in sharing my own experiences and feelings about it. Sometimes, I do get it wrong and I do appreciate comments if my perceptions are incorrect. One of the reasons I love living here is that I learn something new every day. I love answering questions too, so if you have any please feel free to leave a comment or email me.

A cannon that must have hit the wall from a ship below.

Below is the hole where they would hang. Photobucket Photobucket I've learned on this trip that the domes for mosques actually came from Byzantine architecture that the Sultans adopted during the Ottoman period. Photobucket This church is St. Lazarus Church. Very cool. Airplane Ride and the Beach

Posted on Aug. 3, 2009 at 12:23 AM in Cyprus

Photobucket

Yesterday, we got up at 4:30 in the morning to catch an airplane to a new country. We were very tired. This island is split between two countries. So, we flew into one side and then had to take a taxi to the border. It was funny though, because when we went through the European side, the border control just saw that we were American and waved us through without even looking at our passports. Then, there was an inspector for our bags and he just stuck his hand in mine and let us pass. It was so easy. We also noticed that on the Turkish side there weren't any women. We had a lot of fun on the beach. This beach is much better. Very sandy and not rocky like the other ones we have been to recently. Ds11 made this turtle:

We saw a lot of beautiful nature while walking around, waiting for our hotel room to be ready: Photobucket Photobucket

This is a new fruit that I have never seen before. I'm not sure what it is.
