Our Homeschooling Expedition

Aug. 31, 2007

2nd half of the school week

Well we've been a busy bunch around here this week.  I thought I'd show you some photos of what we've been up to.

Weds.  we made potholders on the loom

and made rootbeer (we're not real formal on dress code around here)

Thursday we did an experiment on atoms and molecules.  It was for Pumpkin's science course but of course everyone had to take part.

Today we made chocolate suckers because Peanut is learning about circles.  Besides what is better than chocolate when learning about anything. LOL

Then we made candlestick holders.  Which was the messiest thing ever thanks to the guys.

Then we did more science experiments.  This is the drops of water on a penny.

Can you see the bubble of water on top of the penny?

Finally we did the pretzel prediction experiment.  They made some wild predictions and were stuffing their faces trying to prove themselves right.

That pretty much sums it up.  Overall I'd say we had a pretty successful week.  We did have one grumpy pooh in the beginning but it was overcome.  He decided it was more fun to participate then sit in the other room and be grumpy.  So now you know I get bad attitudes around here.  We managed to get a fair share done even though it was the first week of school.  Not everything I would have liked but we'll get there in the end.  Besides I'm the only one that knows the last day of the books is scheduled for so if need be I'll just extend it into the summer learning.  *insert evil laugh*

I love your pictures! That's the way to homeschool. I think it is so wonderful to see all of the children working together on each project. I hope that you and your family have a great weekend. :)

School at your house looks like so much fun. I wish I were more creative in my teaching approach. (what teaching approach....I don't have one!) Oh, yes I do...Pitiful. LOL

Blessings,
Lori

Your homeschool looks like so much fun. The children can't help but want to learn in an environment like that. I love seeing the children all working and learning together. I've always wanted that type of environment, but with my boys being born 12 years apart it just didn't work out that way!
But every family is unique and special in their own way.

God bless,
Tammy

Wow, this looks like my house.LOL well I mean the dress code. My toddler runs around in spiderman pj's or a diaper. My daughter often makes remarks on how she gets to do school in her PJ's. She just loves that. And there's no way that we can do any hands on stuff alone. It's so fun to include everyone.
Well looks life you are off to a great start. Have a blessed and safe Holiday weekend in Christ Jesus.

Looks like a great week to me! We are working on an ocean mural this week...part of the 7yo's science, but like your group, everyone has been involved. The more the merrier (and messier lol.) Thanks for sharing the peek into your week. Julie.
