If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning.

Man's greatness consists in his ability to do and the proper application of his powers to things needed to be done.

Looks like your going to have a fun unit. I really like all the projects and activities you have planned. I'd like to do it, but were just starting out with a six year old. Maybe in a few years.
Have fun.

When you plan an unit study, do you include all of the subjects in the unit or do you have a separate math, science, language arts, etc. curriculum? Do you make lapbooks with all of your unit studies? Thanks for sharing all that you do. I am learning so much from you.

...amazing! Absolutely amazing. What a fun homeschool you have with all those hands-on things! I'm too chicken to do much hands-on, although of course my kids love it. I may just be feeling inspired by your blog, though! The M&Ms would be especially motivating... :-)
Was that the Ohio State Fair? Dh is from Columbus and we love the Ohio State Fair! We went to the Minnesota State Fair and it's just not the same. :-( Glad you had a good time.

Great info! We are doing the civil war rightnow this is a great resource. Another book you might want to look at is called Captured! A Boy trapped in the Civil War by Mary Blair Immel. It's based on a true story about an 14 year old boy who accidently got put in a prison camp.

Very comprehensive. I stumbled upon this researching for the students in my classroom. I'll be using components to teach Girl in Blue, by Ann Rinaldi, to my gifted 4th/5th grade class in S. FL.

Thanks!
