A Homemade Christmas

Posted in Christmas

This year I've decided to do more homemade Christmas presents for the kids.  With all the recalls lately for toys from China and the fact that most toys that are reasonably priced are from China, brought on this decision.   So I've been scouring for ideas and have come up with a few.  I thought I'd pass them on incase anyone else would be interested in doing them.

Felt Board

Dishtowel Aprons

Puppet Theater

Puppets - cat, bear, frog, and owl

Puppets - chick and bunny

Sock Puppets

Crayons

Decoupage Puzzle Sets

Bean bag chair

Graces

Fleece lap blankets

Plus I did buy a couple of toys already.  I think that will be good for Christmas.

I may have to try some of your ideas!

I love these ideas. We are doing the same thing for Christmas this year. I had already bought some toys on clearance and such through the year. Besides that, it's going to be books and homeade gifts. I love the idea for a felt board. That's great! All of my nieces and nephews are getting those crayons with a dollar store coloring book. I have some great Christmas tins that I found in a thrift store. Perfect for Christmas crayons. :)

Very cool. You're going to be one busy girl! (What about capes and that type of easy to sew dress up stuff? My DD loves those! She's worn some OUT from years of love.)

I have a friend who made a puppet theater that fits into a doorframe. It was so cute. She used a very cheap suspension rod to hang the puppet theater in doorways. She doesn't like to sew, so she bought a big piece of colorful patterned fabric and cut a flap in it for the puppet window. Then she just doubled the fabric over at the top, big enough for the suspension rod to fit thru, and stapled it! Her son used it for years. :)

Great ideas! We are doing educational items, subscriptions and a few toys. Since we don't watch TV, except for a movie night every once in a while, we also got the kids a couple of movies for Christmas.

Brian I'd be happy to plug your contest.

Jimmie you ain't kidding! LOL thanks for the suggestion I may do that for my middle ds. I made a dress up box for the littles last year maybe I'll add a few pieces if I have time.

Opeliag - I'm glad you found the suggestions useful.

mom2chris - I may just steal that idea if I run short on time.
