Promotion Day

Taylor has been promoted to the third grade class at church! She will actually be in the third and fourth grade class! They are changing things up a little at church and putting classes together. How fun will that be. Douglas was promoted to the Kindergarten class. He was so excited! He thinks he is big stuff now. Jackson will be in the 3-4 year old class still. This will be teh first time in two years that he doesn't have Douglas in class with him. I think that will be a good thing...

School went very well last week. Taylor and Douglas seemed to enjoy themselves. We are going to add Jackson to the mix this week. I feel he needs to be doing some more preschool type things and I have to teach him to at least write his name! I also feel like Taylor knew so much more at four than he does.. Is that because she is a girl? Or being the first born...

I hope to start doing more phonics with Douglas and Jackson thIS week. We will see...

TEST DAY!!!

Taylor had her first test today! Being a big third grader has brought on more than she thought...She did her first report this week as well. She did very well on both the test and report. I now know more about Christopher Cloumbus then I ever learned in school ") Did you know that he kept a journal on his beleives and feelings towards the Lord?! ... Me either! It is so amazing to watch her learn so much and to be able to retain it all...I could never do that!

Douglas did well for his first week of school He did so well. he can now tell you the sounds that the vowels A&E make! A as in apple and E as in egg. He has done very well writing his letters as well. He was so proud of writing that he wrote the whole alphabet on the chalk board! He is also able to write his numbers 1-10. He is so cute! We noticed yesterday that he has two loose teeth. He can't wait for the tooth fairy to put money under his pillow. (He let me know that I was the tooth fairy)

Jackson is turning the big 4 tomorrow! I can hardly beleive it! We went and bought him his presents and he will be having his first party with his little friends. We where going to do super heros but when we went shopping he fell in love with The Star Wars decorations so guess whao won...Yes Jackson.. We bought cups, plates and napkins and the nwe found some posters in a book with themes from the movie. daddy couldn't be more proud. We even have black balloons!

We are off to a greatweekend!

The Love of the Father!

We have had a great few day's having Daddy teaching bible each morning! The kids love it! To have this special time with daddy is wonderful. (Not to metion it takes a little of the pressure off of me)

Doug (that is Daddy) will read the bible story out of our bible then he reads from the lesson that we are doing. Then he carries it through by asking the kids questions about the story. I have to admit it is wonderful to see and hear your children learning about the love of our Savior...( Don't think they would learn that at the public schools...)  After Doug is done with his teaching we have each person pray, what a great way to start the day! Then off to work he goes but not before a kiss good bye. He is so WONDERFUL!

When daddy gets home is when the fun starts. He will wrestle with the boys or jump on the trampalenewith them or he will  just snuggle with them on the couch. He has even been known to coeme help me in the kitchen (sometimes even taken over) He really is a great help!

We are really enjoying our new school year!

School at last!

Well we have started our 2006-2007 school year!

What fun it has been these last few days to see my little boy learn so quickly! I have to admit I was a bit nervous about the whole thing but he has done very well. He is learning the sounds of the vowels and he knows all the numbers 1-10 by site and with mixing them around, he is so amazing!

Taylor loves third grade and the new schedule that we are trying this year. She is learning so much already and even has her first report due by Friday. That made her a little scared but she is doing well now.

Our Schedule:

8:15 ~ Bible taught by daddy

8:30 ~ Breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth and make beds

             Taylor's Schedule

9:00     Math

Taylor usually takes about 3 1/2 - 4 hours to get everything done! The last two days she has only taken 3 1/2 hours to do school. Douglas normally takes about 1 1/2 hours to do everything! Jackson normally plays in his room or sits at his desk and learns with us ")

We have been ending school around noon each day.Our afternoons consist of quite rest for Taylor either reading books, playing quitely in her room or reading books. (She LOVES to read) The boys both still take naps. So there you go our school schedule in a nut shell!

The joys of ministry!

The hardest part of being a ministers family is we are gone so much in the summer. We counted all the times we have been on a youth or childrens activity this summer and it has been 34 days! CRAZY!   Now don't get me wrong we love what we do but boy am I glad we are home. We have one last event this weekend then I think I can get our lives back to somewhat normal.")

I plan to start school on Monday August 21. That is if our life doesn't get to nuts again. I think the kids are ready for some form of normal to their lives.

Taylor starts third grade!

Douglas will be a Kindergarter!

Jackson will be 4! We are gonna do some preschool things with him!

Our church life as we know it for the school year starts back to normal in September! Glad to have our lives back !~

You're doing what?

I started this adventure of homeschooling in the fall of 2003 when my husband and I where seeking to know what the Lord would have us do in hubbies job situation. With much thought and prayer we chose to teach our daughter at home. Many people thought we where crazy!  We had no idea where God was going to have us in those months and couldn't bear the thought of sending our little girl to school just to have to pull her out and start over. We had both been there and done that. ")

August 18th, 2003 Clinton Home School Academy was opened! Taylor at the tender age of 5 was going to be taught at home! What a fun and exciting time. I was scared, excited and overwhelmed all at the same time. We started our day out with Daddy reading a bible story to all of us and them Mommy doing the rest while Daddy went to work. This was by far the best thing we could have done. With in 2 months of starting school, God moved us from Oklahoma to Missouri. The best part Taylor didn't have to move schools and the laws in MO where so easy to follow. Well, that was almost three years ago and this month on August 21st we will begin our fourth year of homeschooling. The difference? I will be teaching not just Taylor but also her little brother Douglas! This will be the first year I have two children and also have Jackson my 4 year old that will have to learn that big brother is now doing school too. This year I think will be so much fun and full of laughter and joy!

As for the Mom part of it all I enjoy the fact that I am the one teaching them to write there names and to do math problems or to sit on the back steps and watch a baby bird take flight for the first time. The joys of teaching at home are WONDERFUL!

How do people react when they are told that we homeschool? Well, I still ahve those that don't like it and some who think I should get the kids tested and send them to a "real" school but, I figure I answer to a much higher person and Jesus is all I need to know I am doing what I need too. Who better to teach them about Jesus then their mom and dad?

I love being a Homeschoolmome2_3kids ")

Oh the joys of Children!

Woke up this morning to the sounds of three children yelling at each other because the oldest wanted to watch one TV program while the other two wanted to do something else. They figured it out when mommy came out of the room and just turned the TV off! They aren't fighting now!

I noticed yesterday that my youngest has poision ivy. He hasn't complained once! I figure he must be itching but he doesn't seem to mind. He has a little spot on his tummy and on his arm. I hope it doesn't spread.

I haven't done hardly any planning for the school year yet. Being a youth Pastors wife our summer has been so busy. Next week is our last "church" activity for the summer then I can start planning our school year and get our lives back to normal ") if there is such a thing.

Ok I am giving this a try

Here it is Friday evening and I thought why not give this blog thing a try ")

I have been teaching at home since the day my oldest was born but the whole ''teaching" for subjects thing started in the fall of 2003! My little girl will be in third grade and one of my sons will be in Kindergarten!  That is so hard to beleive. Time goes by so fast. The youngest I will be having do some preschool things this year.

We love being at home and learning. I learn everytime they do. My daughter wants to be an artist and the boys just want to stay alive most days. We are very active in everything we do. The boys are ALL boy and then some. They keep me on my toes for sure! I love it and wouldn't have it any other way! They are precious and I love it!

Our daughter is also a cheerleader for the local homeschooling sports team here and the oldest son is into soccer! The youngest will start soccer thsi fall. I thinkthey are pretty social creatures so I don't worry to much about socialisation! (That is my # 1 question when people find out we teach at home)
