BIRDS BIRDS EVERYWHERE

I am loving this unit! We have spent more than three weeks on this unit! We did a week on Penguins, a week on Chickens and ducks and now we are going to do a few days on owls and end with the Turkey. Then we are going to take a bit of a break and just do a Thanksgiving lesson. Then we are going to spend the month of December studying about The reason why we celebrate Christmas! We are also going to be making a few Christmas gifts and cards. We might have to draw a few birds as well.

If you haven't watched March of the Penguins this is a great unit to watch that movie. We read lots of books and I think each one of the kids has a favirote penguin!  Douglas likes the Rockhopper. Taylor likes the Emperor and Jackson likes the little blue...What fun!

Hope all is well...

My sick little guys

Ever wonder what it was like for Mary? Did Jesus ever get sick? We know that HE was perfect and never sinned once! What about his brothers and sisters. How did they handle that? What questions little once ask. What more of a responsability do we as parents have! I LOVE teaching my children about Christ and HIS love. I pray that my boys will come to know Jesus like the rest of us in the family! What a celebration that will be..

This past week has been crazy! Jackson spent all night Tuesday and all day Wednesday sick, sick, sick! Then he was fine on Thursday! Thougth I was done with that. Nope! Douglas was sick (very sick) on Friday and early Saturday! We are just praying now that Taylor doesn't get it! What fun...No not really!

With all this sickness I only did about two days on our birds unit! We are going to try it for "real" this week. Starting with Penguins! Then I think we are going to do ducks, owls and bluejays/Robins then end the unit with the turkey! Suppose to be a 3 week study but I think we are going tostretch it out a little. Have any good suggestions or thoughts let me know~Have a good week!

It's been a while...

School has been crazy! taylor has decided she isn't to crazy about it right now. i have talked to a few friends with daughters her age and they all reasured me that this is just a faze! I am not a big fan of this faze. Taylor does well with beign told to do things in general and lately this has not been the case! I want her to be independent and make decisions on her own but I also want her to know that until she is an adult she is not in controll!

Douglas has been doing well. I have been trying to work on his mouth! Not that he is saying anything bad he just is so loud!  So we are working on that trait in his little life!

Jackson has been in my COOP room the last two weeks. He has done really well. so much so that he is tryingto write his own name now. I am proud of him! He is a cutie!

We will see waht the next few weeks hold!

WHAT A WEEK!!

Drama! That seems to be the theme of my life!

So let me feel you in on our life this week...

Tuesday was a great day at COOP and then about 8:15 p.m. Jackson was rocking on the rocking chair and took a great tumble! He feel right on his chin and cut open his little face. We had to take him to urgent care because there was no way I could fix him up.We went and they fixed him up by glueing his little chin back together. He was so brave! He did awesome! He lifted his head when the Doctor asked him too and he helped hold the glue, bandagesand tape. The nurse gave him a coloring book, crayons and every sticker they could find! He now has a little red mark on his face and thinks he is big stuff!

Wednesday was going well and then about 11:30 I geta call from Doug telling me he was coming home from work.He had be sick all morningwith some kind of tummy thing! He looked really bad! He slept most of the day and we ended up staying home from church. One cause daddy was sick but two because I wanted Jackson to take it easy!

Thursday was a great day! Douglas lost his first tooth and had to call Grandma and Aunt Joyce as well as Daddy at work!

Today was a good day! Douglas made an ABC book. he cut out pictures from magazines and glued them onto paper! He is so cute! He lost another tooth today too. He looks adorable! Taylor made her spelling words out of letters from magazines too.

What a week!

Children, they are so much fun!

There is no greater joy then loving Jesus and teaching my children to love him too. The hardest job I think a mother and father have is introducing the love and passion to serve their Lord. Wow!!

So with that, come also the disapline of the children. How does one teach the oldest that she  isn't the boss of the younger brothers, that she isn't in charge of telling them what to do and that if she doesn't finish the task at hand that there are consaquences! Boy is parenthood fun~ Taylor what a joy!

Now Douglas, he seems to always know when we mean buisness! He doesn't like to be in trouble and he is usually the first to have the chores done, school finished and will help when asked.

Jackson is on his own road in life. He doesn't think that the rules apply to him. Why is that? He is the youngest and we have treated him as such. he is now learning very slowly I might add that he is not in control! He is here to keep me hoppen I suppose!

Now lets see where are those kids?

Ahh Taylor...

Taylor is sick! She has a runny nose! Now most of the time I wouldn't worry about when my kids get a cold but Taylor well, that is another story. She has had pnemonia 6 times in her short life and has been hospitalised 2 times for it. Well thsi morning I have noticed she is coughing. That is normally the sign to take her in! I am praying that maybe by some slim chance in her life this could actually be just a childhood cough!

She is so amazing in her litttle life! She has taken such a deep interest in Jesus! Every night she reads  her bible and prays before she goes to sleep. A friend of ours picked up a childs prayer journal for her. (They are at dollar general) Taylor has used this every night! Our prayer now is that Taylor would get better with out having to see the Doctor! Keep her in your prayers~

It is time to take a stand!

Alright I have stood by and watched our television sets turn into a big lesson on "Love" that I don't agree with! I have watched shows with to much violence and not done anything about it. Over the last few months  I can say that I have been pretty convicted over these things! I MUST take a stand for my Jesus! So as I found out about Madonna and what she is wanting to do I could not sit still any longer! I have read, searched and looked at what she is up to and it is NO good. I am posting this link that you can go to so you too can stand for the rights of CHRISTIANS!!! www.afa.net and if that isn't enough then you can also go to www.onemillionmoms.com and also stand for the rights for Marriage!  We must take a STAND!!!

OK I know this is mostly a blog on what I do to teach my children at home. Well I am 100% about teaching my children the real reason for marriage and how we are to honor and respect our JESUS and when we as Christians allow the media, super stars and others to bash our Jesus then aren't we doing the same? I am ready to take back America for JESUS...Are you with me?

We are a happy Home School...

Taylor is well into her 4th week of school! She has learned about the Indians, Christopher Cloumbus and now the Pilgrims! What an awesome job she is doing. So much fun!

Douglas is liking school a lot! He has learned all of the vowels and also the sounds of M and D. He figured out that puting m-a-d together ='s mad. he loves to write on the chalk board and thinks figuring out how many hotwheels he has is great! Little does he know he is doing math everytime!

Jackson is so cute! We have a poster on the wall with the days of the week and months of the year. He likes to point at the poster and sing the songs! He also LOVES to tell me he is the "teacher." What fun!!

Today was a good day! I have a head cold but man is it great to be able to teach my children just the same. We spent 30 minutes outside going over the parts of a plant. The best part was when the kids could tell me each thing when we where done. I even had them draw me a picture of a flower!

They are great kids!

The Library

For our family the library is a must! We go at least twice a month if not more. Today Douglas wanted to go get a movie, well I figured why not! He is now a library card holder! HE checked out two movies and a book all by himself!  He is becoming quite the little man.

He wore some overalls today and I am telling you I think he grew two feet right before my eyes! What a hoot!

Taylor has had her own card for quite awhile! She checked out 5 books and a movie as well. SHe will have them all read by Friday!

Jackson isn't sure why I wont let him get his own card yet. I told him he had to be big enough to be in Kindergarten. (Actually I let the other two get a card when they where 5 so I thought I would let him be that way too) He was able to get a movie!

As for myself? I HAVE a card! I checked out 7 books and no movies!

Soccer!

Today was our first soccer practice for both of the boys!

Jackson is a wild man! They had the children run and needless to say Jackson is very fast! He out ran everyone! Not only that but he also would ru nthe ball up and down the field as the coach asked them to do. He was able to be the goallie as well. he is one funny little man!

Douglas's practice got rained out after 20 minutes of practice. I had to laugh because his couch is new and isn't sure what to expect out of these boys! However he is really nice. I think Douglas is going to have a great time! He kicked that ball pretty hard! Which is his favirote thing to do of course!

Taylor isn't doing soccer! She will begin cheerleading practice next Monday! She is a bit excited about the whole thing! Should be fun! I am the cheer mom! What will that mean? Good question!

School has been going well. We learned about the Indians the last two weeks and i had Taylor make a teepee. She loved it! She used sticks, construction paper, some bandaids (made her own designs on those) and tissue paper! It looks really cute! We are also in the middle of making a mud hut! Most people think of teepees with the Indians but they also lived in Mud houses, log houses and much more! I have to admit I have learned more teaching Taylor this year then I ever did when I was in school. I think that might be because I am actually have fun!

COOP is tomorrow! We should have fun! my class will be learning there ABC's starting with A! Wish us luck~

You know your a homeschool mom when...

You aren't afraid to pick up a grasshopper so your children can see it up close and personal..

You collect dead bugs for a nature center in the garage! Also in the house too...

When there's 4 empty birds nest in the garage as well.

When your daughter makes a teepee out of stciks, contrustion paper and tissue paper...And it actually looks like a teepee!

When you go outside to make a mud hut like the Indians lived in...

When your five year old writes the whole alphabet on the chalk board and you don't wipe it off because you are proud of that manuscript!

When your four year old wants to sing the days of the week and months song! (And tells you he is the teacher while pointing to the days and months)

Your four year old can tell you the names of a flower and he is right...

When your dog gets hurt and the kids want to be the vet....

When you find dead butterflies and you put them in your purse so the kids can identify them...

When your living room looks like a school room...

And last but not least! you know your a homeschool mom when you get hugs and kisses all day long...(Not just at bed time)

Children and jammies

Question of the week...Do you let your children do school in there jammies or make them wear street clothes for school? My answer is...BOTH! I figure why ruin the mood of school if they are ready to learn in their jammies. Is there a written rule that says they have to be dressed?

Taylor is normally dressed for the day!

Douglas it depends on his mood!

Jackson he is ready at the crack of dawn!

Mommy is usually in her jammies until 9:30! (I would rather get my jammies dirty then my clothes)

Daddy he is always ready to goe!

So what do you do?

Ahh the sounds of Children

We are back in COOP! The kids loved it.

Taylor started to learn about the 50 states and capitals as well as the regions. She is so excited. She has also received post cards from three different states already. That has her really jumping for joy. She reads the post card and looks the state up on the map. It has been great. We have heard from about 5 other states that will be sending her post cards. I would love for her to receive all 50 states but I don't think that is going to happen. I hope she can at least get half! If you would like to send a post card from the state you live in please do!

Douglas seemed to have enjoyed his first day back at COOP as well. He sayed he liked making a duck and learning to write duck on his paper! How cute is that! HE also sayed he liked music and recess. He seems to be doing well. He sure knows  how to melt this mommys heart!

Jackson is ready to go as well. He liked music today because they where able to use the bells. He wasn't sure about his class at first because he didn't want to be in a room with babies ( I kept him in the 3 year old class because of his late August birthday) I asked his teacher and she said he did great! He even took his nap!

This year at COOP I am the K4 led teacher! All that means really is they have someone in there all the time that they know. It just happens to be me ") I had a good time with the kids in my class.( I think it really helped me knowing hat I had the same kids in bible for the last three years.) We painted, went outside, did music, bible, and manners as well as went over our colors, numbers and letters in our names. It was great!

Now I am off to teaching my kids! The day should be so fun!

Books, books and more books

We where given two full boxes of books last night. I went through them and have to admit, I am pretty proud of myself as I only kept a box full. That is really good for this momma who loves books! Now I need to figure out what to do with the ones I don't want or need...

Taylor looked through the books as well and did very well at not picking books that we didn't need. She is a book worm. We tested today and she is in her room doing what else? Reading books! I love my little book worm!!!

Douglas thinks today is a vactaion for him as he didn't have much work to do today. He has been building much of the morning with his new construction set...That is learning right?

Jackson well, he is just my little spit fire! He too likes the books. Loves the Old little golden books with all the characters on the back. Likes seeing Big Bird and Bambi on the back...

Today we are heading for Tulsa to see some friends, family and have some fun! It is also Doug's birthday!  He is the magic 32! He is working 1/2 day! We are ready for a bit of a break and to be able to go "home".

We love being able to teach at home so on weekends we can actually go to Tulsa we don't have to have the kids miss and school days.  (The kids jsut don't realize that they are still doing school when they read, write and study nature)

Oh the Joys of Jackson

Jackson is now the big four and with that has is a bit of an attitude! He has reminded me every day since his birthday that he is a big boy and four. I called him my baby today and he gave me this look like "Who you calling baby?" He is four and a big boy..

I decided today would be a good time to start introducing him to school...HA on me...He is going to be my challenge I'm afraid. He had no interest waht so ever in learning how to write his name. He does like sitting and listening to me when I talk to Douglas about the sounds letters make but he does not want anything to do with writing his own name. I teased Doug today and told him Jackson would be the one I sent off to school...I was just kidding. I really can't wait for him to learn how to write his name and show me that he knows what he is doing. He will be the one that shows us all how life is fun and worthy of Jackson... As it is of course!
