homeschoolradioshows: Living Books for the EARS!

Labor Day Listening!

Dear Friends,

Since this coming weekend marks the "official end" of Summer vacation season here in the USA, we thought we'd bring you a couple of "just for fun" Labor Day vacation programs to listen to as you enjoy your holiday.

So...

First up, we feature the Labor Day episode of the Quiz Kids, a popular question and answer program from September, 1950. Quiz Kids consisted of host Joe Kelly asking questions of five extremely bright kids, whose breadth of knowledge about obscure things is downright amazing.  This entertaining and very educational episode of Quiz Kids starts with the question:

"Why would you be wise to choose a picnic spot for your Labor Day picnic near a good supply of Gambusia Afinus?"

Hmmm... Do YOU know? Well, these youngsters sure do! You and your kids will really get a kick out of this fascinating program. And be  SURE to keep an ear out for contributions from five year old Angus -- he's amazing!

Next, we bring you an episode of "Father Knows Best", where the Anderson family is simply trying to set out on their vacation... but things keep going awry. There's lots of laughs in this fun episode starring RobertYoung, which was originally broadcast in July, 1952.

Hope you and yours have a wonderful family time this weekend. We'll see you next week as we head back to the books with another "living book for the ears" program!

Best Wishes,
The Erskine Family
