homeschoolradioshows: Living Books for the EARS!

Thanksgiving Stories for the Ears!

Dear Friends,

The year has turned its circle,
    The seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
    And chilly north winds blow.
    Orchards have shared their treasures,
    The fields, their yellow grain,
    So open wide the doorway...
    Thanksgiving comes again!

This week's "living book for the ears":
The Path of Praise

This week and next, we will be presenting some very special programs that will give your family a much deeper appreciation of our Thanksgiving holiday. This week, "The Path of Praise",  a great "history" of the celebration of Thanksgiving, dramatizing the Pilgrims' first Thanksgiving celebration... General George Washington's Thanksgiving proclamation...and Abraham Lincoln's reason for declaring Thanksgiving a national holiday. There's also some wonderful music on this program too, which is probably our all-time favorite Thanksgiving-themed radio show.  This program was first broadcast on "Cavalcade of America" on November 20, 1951.
