Nov. 23, 2009 - "TABETTO"

We attended the Missouri Right to Life banquet last week.  This was the first banquet I had attended in several years.  It was good to see the crowd.  It was good to know we're not alone in this issue.  Jack Cashill spoke.  He spoke about the media and many others that TABETTO.  For those of you that do not know what that is... (and unless you were there, you won't)  It stands for Turning a Blind Eye to the Obvious.

He was talking specifically about abortion, about how 300,000+ people can show up in D.C. for the Life March in January, 2 days after the inauguration and not one liberal media outlet reported it.  Want proof... go to Jack's website and order "Thine Eyes."  Proof is in the video.

But...

I have been chewing on this for the last week and have come up with many areas where people TABETTO...here are just a few...

It is obvious that a Christian has no business attending movies like Harry Potter and New Moon.

It is obvious that child protective services does NOT protect children...

It is obvious that a Believer, adult or child, has no place in a government school...

It is obvious that abortion is murder

It is obvious that the government cannot run private industry... Chevy found that out the hard way.

It is obvious that the government cannot run healthcare either...but I don't want to find that out the hard way!

It is obvious that homosexuality is a sin...just as drunkeness, fornication, anger, lying etc are sins...

It is obvious that the media worships Obama and disdains those that stand up for truth...

It is obvious that truth cannot be relative!

It is obvious that by seperating ourselves into "African-Americans" "Native-Americans" etc. we are only causing more racism

It is obvious that God created... how else can one REALLY explain how and why everything in this universe works the way it does...Yea, I know "big bang" that's why when a coke can explodes, it piles itself up into one neat place waiting to be cleaned up instead of saturating everything within it's radius with sticky goop...random chaos cannot create order!

Aug. 6, 2009 - We Can Save the Planet!!!!!!

Shane sent me this article yesterday.   The basic premise is that if we have even fewer children, we can reduce the carbon footprint and save the planet!  So, if we have less than the 1.2 children we are already having in this country, then, what are we gonna save it for?  All the animals that will evolve in millions of years, so they can breath fresh air?  I don't believe I have seen anything more ridiculous in a long time.

In other words, this article is saying... Let's kill all the humans so the animals can breath fresh air.

Sometimes I think God forgot to give some people their brain...nuf said.

Jun. 26, 2009 - The Death of a Legend

This week marked the earthly deaths of several famous people.  Ed McMahon died earlier this week.  Farrah Faucett and Michael Jackson died yesterday...

And also a man named Zared Zajicek.  You may be asking "Who was that?" I never heard of him... well  wait, and I'll tell you.

Let me first say that I don't personally know any of these people.  Never met Michael, although I remember the sweet child face singing "ABC" on TV and I did see his concert in the 80's at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN.  Never met Farrah even though I was a faithful watcher of Charlie's Angels.  Never won the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, so Ed never knocked on my door.  And neither did I know Zared.

Princess asked me yesterday afternoon, why we have children.  What purpose do they serve?  They take away couple time, you don't get to work, etc.  We talked, and at one point, I asked her if she had ever heard the saying that goes something like "a business executive never wished he had spent more time at the office"

After hearing that Michael Jackson died, I started thinking about this.  Yes, Jacko was a pop legend.  Yes, he was talented.  Yes, he was immensely popular.  And VERY eccentric.  But... in the end... he was alone and a lonely man.

Ed McMahon was legendary as well.  Know for "Heeeeeeeeeeeere's Johnny" and for being Johnny's sidekick for... how many years?  I honestly can't think of Johnny Carson without thinking of Ed McMahon.  But what impact for eternity did Mr. McMahon really contribute.  Yes, he helped Johnny bring humor to our lives but really?

Farrah... well, what teen boy didn't you know in the late 70's that didn't have a copy of "the" poster hanging in his bedroom?  She was beautiful, she was witty, she was charming.   Her "partner" of 17 years was Ryan O'Neal.  Never married him.  Although I saw yesterday where he was "planning" to ask her once she was able to say yes...(nice save Mr. O'Neal).  I say big deal at this point... Again, she offered the world nothing of eternal value.

And Zared. You won't read about Zared's life on Fox News.  Or hear Rush Limbaugh mention him.  Larry King has never heard of Zared.  But from the little I know of him (which is most likely as much as I really know about the other 3 people I wrote of) he was a man that was loved.  Zared was a young man of 23.  Newly married.  And had all of life ahead of him.  His new wife stayed by his side in the hospital while he fought for his life in the ICU after he fell off a roof earlier this week.   (You can read his story here  ).   His family and friends obviously adored him.

Again, I am reminded of people like Heather Davis's beloved Eric.  David and Marsha Drews young son, Christian.   Joseph, a father of six precious children whose mother was called home a few months ago.  And many other's whose names will never be mentioned in Hollywood, or New York City, or by Rush, or Lary King... but whose names are engraved in the book of life for all of eternity.

It really brings things into perspective.  What is really important?  Being know for inventing the moonwalk, wearing one white sparkly glove, "Thriller"  "Heeeeeeeeere's Johnny," being beautiful, posing in a provacative red bathing suit on a poster for all the teen boys with raging hormones to hang on their bedroom walls?

Or being a follower of the One True God.  Leaving family and friends behind that will mourn you because they knew you, not because you were some pop icon.  But because they really knew you and loved you.

So which of these three were the "real" legend????

Just something to think about...

May. 31, 2009 - I'm Anti- Abortion and I'm Not Rejoicing!

As I signed online after getting home from church, I discoverd that George Tiller had been murdered this morning.  The internet is buzzing with talk of Operation Rescue or other pro-life organizations and people being accomplices to this murder because they stand for truth.  The other buzz is that pro-lifer's are rejoicing that Mr. Tiller is dead.  I want my position to be made clearly:

I am pro-life and I am not rejoicing at the murder of Mr. Tiller!

Murder is a terrible thing!  Even the murder of a man who killed an untold number of innocent babies in the name of "choice"  Not only that, but I sit here pondering his eternal destiny.

My condolences to Mr. Tiller's family.

Apr. 2, 2009 - A Fallacy

Recent conversations here have included the topic of race.  Recently Voddie Baucham and Doug Phillips answered a question about inter"racial" marriage.

From personal experience, I agree, those that don't like our answers resort to name calling...

For some reason, the permalink on Dougs blog is not working properly, but here is the entry in full.

Is “Racial” Intermarriage Biblical?

For nearly two decades I have had the opportunity to teach on the issue of creation, the family and the Bible. Throughout this time I have had the privilege of preaching on the subject of “race” and marriage before thousands. I have always addressed the question the same way. This weekend at the Father and Daughter Retreat the question was asked again. Here is how Dr. Voddie Baucham and I answered the question:

QUESTIONER: “...How does race fall into you and your daughter’s choice in a man?”

DOUG: “I’ll give you my answer. The Bible teaches that there is only one race. And that is the human race. So, consequently because there is only one race (and that’s the human race), we’re all of one blood.” Therefore, all men and women are qualified for marriage—not on the basis of their melanin count—but on the basis of other things all-together.”

“So from my perspective, anti-miscegenation laws are unbiblical and are wrongful. Prejudices which prohibit inter-marriage based on so called, skin color are deviant, ungodly, and unscriptural. That’s my perspective. Would anybody else like to add to that?”

VODDIE: “In What He Must Be if He Wants to Marry My Daughter, notice a couple of things; On the cover of that book you cannot tell the ethnicity of the man. That’s intentional. The last chapter of the book-the conclusion—is addressing this question directly right form the perspective that Doug just echoed. I really felt like that was an important issue. So its addressed on the cover and its addressed in the conclusion of the book, What He Must Be if He Wants to Marry My Daughter.

There are two types of people who hate this answer.

The first are bigots.

Bigots come in all different stripes. Some are “white” and some are “black.” Some are red, or yellow, or brown. (Perhaps some are polka-dot—I don’t know.) Some claim to be Christian, and some don’t. But the ones who claim to be Christians usually have an errant perspective on the Book of Genesis—a perspective which is often linked to a clear theological compromise with evolutionary thinking. The ones who don’t claim to be Christian tend to have pagan views of culture and ethnicity. Alternatively, they may simply harbor ill-will in their heart to those who are different from them.

The second group who hate answers like the one that Voddie and I gave include people with an agenda to smear Christians and Christian ministries. Not content to address real ideas and real positions, they resort to perverse fact-twisting, bizarre analogical reasoning, outrageous straw men—-anything to appeal to those silly and undiscerning individuals who can be easily taken captive by the fear-mongering tactics of the kook-brigade. This point becomes clear should you find yourself surfing the web and stumble across “Christianswholovebabiesareracists.com,” or “womenwhoareatleasttentimessmarterthanourweaklinghusbands.com, or even “holyfeministswiththespiritualgiftoflying.com.

When all else fails—-call your enemy a racist.

Like the first group, the second group includes individuals of different stripes, but the common denominator here is hatred for Christians and Christian ministries, not concern for people with a different melanin count.

The Bible has the answer to bigots, Internet hate-mongers and those who genuinely inquire about the truth of His Word. While God does classify men along the lines of “kindreds and tongues and nations,” there is no “white race,” nor “black race.” God has “made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth.” (Acts 17:26). Praise the Lord!

Mar. 18, 2009 - Don't Be Sad for Me...

Oviously I'm really striking a nerve on an entry I wrote-- what 2 months ago based on a speech given by a man with brown skin...  Dr. Martin Luther King was the one that spoke of having his children be recognized for their character and not the color of your skin... I was only quoting him and giving my opinion on it.  And for the record, no, I don't think a man that wants to kill babies (among other things) has much character.

Thank you Cici for being respectful and for signing your name.  I truly appreciate that.

First of all, let me make myself perfectly clear.  I view people as people.  Human, the way God intended, not by the color of their skin.  I have a disdain for forms that ask race.  We are one race-- human, not black, (or AA) or caucasian, or Indian (or NA), etc.... These things describe our physical traits, but not our "race".   Many times, I will write "human" in the slot for "other" when I am filling out these ridiculous forms.

In our home, we do not focus on skin color (except to say how pretty our children's skin is).  Or to joke about not being able to find one of our chocolate children after dark unless they're wearing a bright colored shirt :)

In our home, we focus to the best of our ability, on bringing up our children to honor the Lord God Almighty.

When God gave us our children, we didn't care what color skin they had, we wanted a family.  And quite honestly black/biracial children are the "unwanted" children of society.  Don't believe me, check out www.adoptuskids.org and see all the little chocolate people that are in the foster care system waiting for their forever family, in our country as opposed to white children.

As for people being born "that way" homosexual... sorry... I know of too many that have been freed from that sad life to believe it. Others that are so miserable that they can hardly stand themselves.  In fact, I've met very few happy "gay people"  (and in the past worked in a field that is filled with those living the lifestyle).  I find it hard to believe that those living the homosexual lifestyle want to be that way any more than an alcoholic wants to be an alcoholic, (yes, I know there are those that would say it's a disease... not a sin, I disagree).  Or any more than a man addicted to pornography wants to be, or drugs, etc. etc. etc.  No, these people don't want to be "that way" but a sinful habit, any sinful habit, is hard to break.   IMO, being homosexual and acting on it,  is  no less of a sin than a heterosexual in relationships outside of  marriage and acting on it.  I believe if God had intended men to be with men and women with women, he would have provided that option in Genesis, but He did not.  In fact, is very clear about his opinion in His Word about homosexuals, just as he is about other sins.

Abortion... no comment except... I have 4 babies that would/could have been aborted, had it not been for the option given the birthmothers of adoption.

As far as your thoughts on my beliefs about blacks-- sorry you know very little about that.  I do not claim to be an expert in welfare, I KNOW white people get it too... good grief-- stop being so sensitive people!  I was raised in Knoxville, TN and most of the projects there are filled with whites.

YES! There are lazy white people collecting government checks for sitting on their rear ends too.  I believe I have said this before but I'll say it again now too.

Happy now?

What I saw in the inner cities I was in, was people that did not know how to get out of the hood.  They wanted to, but generational sin is VERY hard to break. And when you get almost as much or more money for doing nothing, why do you want to get out and work?  In a way I don't blame them.  I just wish it was different.  My opinion is that welfare brings about very little good.  It makes people lazy and gives opportunities for people to lead sinful lives.

And for the record, there is NO WAY any person can know everything about my feelings about these topics from a few blog entries.   These are just mostly my random thoughts I have had about these subjects.  To presume to know everything I think from what I write here is ... well I don't know what, but it can't be done.

I am a person that believes in absolute truth, not moral relativism, which is the mantra of today... and I don't apologize for it.

Jan. 22, 2009 - I Have A Dream...

You may notice that my last post is gone.  I have decided to re-write it because something that Shane keeps saying is burning in my mind.

Martin Luther King gave a speech on August 28, 1963 that has gone down in history as one of the greatest speeches given in our time.

"I have a dream"... but do you know what the rest of the lines say...

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. "

My dear friends,  President Obama has been judge on nothing but the color of his skin.  His character has not been called into question. (and if it is, he  trumps with the "black" card.)   His white mother has not been talked about.  He has yet to even produce a certified birth certificate-- which we all must produce to even get a passport in this country.

Mr. President, you are not a man of character.  I so wish my choclate skinned sons could look at you proudly as a role model.  But alas, they cannot.  My children have been taught the value of life.  In fact, they are on this earth today because their birthmothers valued life enough to allow them to live instead of murdering them in the womb.  My children know that we should work if we are going to eat.  My children know that men do not belong in a "relationship" with men, nor do women belong in "relationships" with women.  Mr. President how many projects in our nations cities are filled with black people content to sit on their rear ends and get government checks for everything they need?  Hundreds of thousands?  Even FDR realized that men need to work.  Blacks sit in their crummy apartments in the projects,  complaining, but not willing to do anything about it.  (And yes I've been in several in Memphis and Birmingham).

More from Dr. King's speech:

"And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

My friends, Dr. Martin Luther King  knew that there was ONE, True, Almighty God.   He also knew that we ALL needed to be together.  Not blacks for blacks and whites for whites.

Personally, I do not feel that we've made much progress at all where Dr. King would have wanted to see progress.

As a white Momma of what the world woudl call 4 black children, I have gotten strange looks, been questioned, and had the police called on me by black women!  This is reverse discrimination, and folks, it's not any better than people discriminating against black people.  This is not what Dr. King wanted either-- some Pastor (and I use the term loosely) praying "where yellow is mellow" and "red is whatever he said that rhymed"a crowd made of mostly black people applauding!

I have said it before and been criticized for it "God don't see no color"  I will stand by that!  When it comes to the color of a persons skin, it just doesn't matter... just like it doesn't matter if I have blue eyes, or brown eyes, or black hair or blonde hair.  Yes, God made the colors and we can appreciate them (my darling children have the prettiest skin colors ever) but we shouldn't make that the determining factor on someone's character.

Character is not determined by one's color of skin, Character is determined by the actions of the heart.

Read the rest of Dr. King's speech here and be amazed.

Jan. 12, 2009 - This is SICK! And Sad...

Shane sent me a link to an article today that has turned my stomach.  Apparently there is a young lady in the UK that is auctioning off her v*rg*nity to the highest bidder.  She said she got the idea after her sister paid for her college degree by being a pr*st*tute for 3 weeks.

The reason... to pay for her degree in Marriage and Family Therapy!

Does that bother anyone else?

Jan. 9, 2009 - If You've Ever Thought Barbie was OK...

I know many of us probably played with Barbie as we were growing up.   I know I did.  I had many outfits, a case for her, the many hers I had, and her things.  It was fun and exciting to play Barbie and pretend to be an exotic woman going places.  But let's face it.  It's not reality.  The most exotic place I've ever traveled is not even out of this country... Life is not all glamour and sparkle... I think many of our Moms were ignorant of the influence Barbie would have on our lifes.  She was the "perfect" woman.  No dishes or laundry for Barbie.   I believe it gave us girls a false sense of what grown up life would be like...

Shane and I decided many, many years ago that Barbie would not be welcomed in our home.  When Princess was probably 4ish, McDonald's gave mini Barbies in their happy meals as one of their promotionals.  We let her decide what she was going to do about it.  It was a tough choice, but in the end, she made the right decision and out it went.  That was not the only time...unsuspecting aquaintences would give Barbies to her for gifts.  In these situations, we offered lternatives and Princess didn't have to forfeit the gift, we substituted something more appropriate.

If you're a parent that thinks Barbie is okay, you might want to read this article that tells the rest of the story

I'll add a disclaimer the man who "created" her had one sick mind.  I just want you to be forewarned this is not an article the children should read and you should know that it talks about s*x...  so if that's going to offend you, take my word for it.

Nov. 4, 2008 - Interesting Twist on Nebraska Law

In light of the election I decided to post something that struck me funny today.

We received a newsletter from our adoption agency every quarter.  This quarter's newsletter had a very interesting article:

Apparently Nebraska was one of the last states to pass a "safe-haven" law that allows parents to drop off their infant babies at hospitals or firestations without penalty.  Well, Nebraska extended the law to "help"  children up to the age of 19.

Since July when the law was passed,  14 children including 7 teens have been left by  parents/caregivers in 6 families.   So when your teen starts acting like a brat because you haven't trained him/her, make a trip to Nebraska...

I'm not sure this is what the lawmakers had in mind.

Sep. 29, 2008 - Fireproof #4 at the box office

Shane just emailed this to me!!!  I'd say that's pretty good considering it was showing on less than 1000 movie screens in the nation.  God was glorified in the darkest places this weekend!!!!

http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/boxoffice/

It was #4 on opening weekend and was on less than 1,000 screens

Sep. 29, 2008 - Fireproof GO see it!

We went to see Fireproof yesterday and took all of our children and a couple of extra too.  The movie was wonderful!  The theatre was not as full as I would have liked to see but we went to the Sunday 1:40 show, so maybe the other times were busier.

The one thing we were concerned in taking our children was the subject of pornography.  But we also knew the reason it was PG was because of it being about God and not for any other content.  We thougth it was handled very tastefully.  The discussions about it were vague enough that the younger set would have missed it, but direct enough that those older knew what they were talking about.  The one scene that showed anything at all was a pop-up on the computer screen,  basically a picture of a pretty brunette with the caption at the bottom of "wanna see more" The young lady was smiling, there was no skin, and the picture showed nothing from the neck down. (Basically, you can see more "porn" on underwear commercials, or in the lobby after the movie, than this one scene).  I think it was a very powerful scene to show the battle Caleb was fighting within himself.   I hope Dad's and Mom's will use it as a spring board for discussing internet porn with their boys especially.
There is also one scene near the begininng that is a bit intense.  It involves a train... I'll not say more because I don't want to give it away.  Just be prepared to be on the edge of your seat...
Sherwood has outdone themselves.  Like Facing the Giants, and Flywheel, there is a good mix of serious, and funny.  Look for several cameo appearances by the actors in the last movies, including the Kendrick brothers.   There is also an interesting little twist at the end of the movie.
Of course the storyline itself is a little more intense than a football team that has a stellar year because they honored God.  But I'm glad to see Sherwood taking this direction.  I would recommend this movie to anyone.

I must say that the previews were awful!  We told the children to close/cover their eyes but they still heard an earful.  Shane asked me to go out and make sure we were in the right theatre. (and met another lady doing the same thing).   The manager came over and asked if there was a problem and I told her about the previews being terrible for anyone, much less my young children.  The were nearly immediately stopped and the movie began.  She also said they would be pulling those previews from that movie for the remainder of the run.   Apprently yesterday was the only day those really nasty previews were shown as that was the only day they had received several complaints.   It did give us a chance to ask the children if they understood why we rarely went to the movie theatre... they did.
This is a must see movie.

Sep. 19, 2008 - Who Are We Voting For?

Robin just left a comment and asked what we were going to be doing about voting this election... I was going to comment on her blog, but decided to quickly post a reply here instead:

You asked about what we'll do about voting this election on my blog.  We will never not vote, even if we write in someone.  This country was founded on the principles that country is about  "we the people" We will  do our job and vote.  I nearly positive that Shane will have us vote Constitution party this time.  We just can't in good conscience bring ourselves to vote for "the lesser of two evils"   It's not a can of worms at all, it's a good question and one many are thinking of this fall in this election season.

Sep. 10, 2008 - Deborah and Barak

Voddie Baucham ROCKS!!! He stood firm on CNN yesterday and spoke the Truth.  The CNN anchor actually brought up Deborah.  Deborah was the first person I thought of when McCain announced Palin as his VP choice.  Personally, I am extremely disappointed in the many evangelicals that came out in favor of McCain now that he has chosen Palin as his running mate.  You'd think that Palin was running for President the way all of this is playing out.  McCain has not changed his positions (at least not today).  He's chosen a woman as his running mate.  As Dr. Baucham pointed out, Israel was in dire straights... they were being judged.  Deborah being in charge was not a good thing!  It was because the men wouldn't stand up and do their job!

By the way, have you read the story of Deborah lately.  It's in Judges 4 and 5.  The man that would not do the job was named Barak-- interesting, huh???

Aug. 26, 2008 - "Bad" Joke lands Kentuckian in Jail

Does anyone else think this is absolutely ridiculous?  Personally, I don't think this is a "bad" joke.  A man spends 3 days in jail for joking around with the wrong person.  This is political correctness to the absurd extreme. The fact that the Aunt of these girls even wanted this man arrested is beyond my imagination, but what kind of judge puts a man in jail for joking around?  Further more, let's think about this-- is any man  going to make a s*xual inuendo to 2 teen girls in front of their Aunt, Mother, Father, etc???   THAT would be even stupider than what this Aunt and the Judge did!

Maybe Kentucky judges should learn their history lessons:

Appalachian scholar Loyal Jones said the jest Hensley made has been around for generations and actually is intended as a compliment.

How does an age old joke become s*xual?????

I think I'll have to forward this to my Daddy has a warning.  He calls women all the time "pretty lady" and jokes to get people to laugh. He'll be 69 this year, believe me, he's not flirting, he's just having fun.   He might be calling me to post bond some day...

Not only must people like this have no life, they must suck lemons for fun.

Aug. 25, 2008 - Please Use Snopes

We have an aquaintance that lives in PA.  Every now and then, she sends us different "important" emails.  Today she sent the one that has been circulating for 8 years about the drug Phenylpropanolamine.  Although at the time, this was true it is vastly outdated!   I have told this woman about  Snopes, and encouraged her to verify emails before she sends them out but this one "sounded important" so instead of checking, she sent it on.  Even the link to the FDA in the body of the email, says that this email is obsolute!

Please people, if you get an email like this, or any other that could or could not be true verify it before you send it on blindly.

www.snopes.com  in the search box, type a key word from the email.  In this case I typed Phenylpropanolamine and it took me right to it.

Aug. 9, 2008 - More Olympic Yuck

This has nothing to do with China, but it does have to do with what "sport" qualifies as an Olympic sport.  Today, we trecked to town thinking we would go to Paradise Park and ride go karts, play mini-golf, and shoot each other in the foam factory.  It was sprinkling when we left and we were hopeful that either a) it wouldn't be raining in the city, or b) the outdoor activities would be running anyway since the rain was not even hardly there.

As we walk in, the T.V. was on, just as it is at every place, everywhere these days.  Paradise Park is no exception.  They Olympics were on.  But I had to tell my boys and my hubby to not even look, because there were bikini clad women on the screen.  Since when are bikini clad women with che*ks hanging out playing beach volleyball an Olympic sport????

I remember being in college, going to the state park down the road, where there was a beach volleyball net set up.  The local Mennonite women would play this sport in their dresses.  So why do the Olympics have to border on pornography?

I've changed my mind...I doubt we'll be watching any of the Olympics on purpose.

BTW, we ended up at a different branch of our wonderful library and I didn't give the children a book limit, we spent about 2 hours there, the children brought home bags of books.  And since Shane was there, I even got to bring some things home.  Stopped by Dollar General and Walmart for a couple of things.  Then we ate lupper (lunch/supper) at Cracker Barrel (one of my favorite places to eat) and then we explored the new Bass Pro Shop... very cool.  It was kind of comical --Shane pointed out that the women were the ones walking around with the bored, lets get out of here looks... You know the same looks you see at the mall on the faces of the men waiting on their women   (I'd like to think I wasn't among those bored faces I really did think it was cool).  Home, showers and bed for the children.  Searching for some last minute books for this years AO schedule for Princess.  She's doing year 7.  Anybody know where I can get the right set of Churchill's "The Birth of Britain" without spending a small fortune?????

Aug. 8, 2008 - One World One Dream

I might really tick some people off here, but I am about to be sick.  I haven't really thought much about the Olympics.  Or to the fact that they are in China, until tonight... I've had other things to be more concerned about (like how I'm going to deal with the nasty lady at the only ortho office in the metro that will take LB's insurance for his ortho work over the next 10 years due to his cleft palate).

So tonight we turned on the T.V. for a few minutes thinking that we'd find something ridiculous  (like Red Green) to watch while we sipped a glass of wine.  Instead we found the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.  Honestly, I'm not a big summer Olympic fan even during normal circumstances.  We will usually watch some of the winter games, usually some of the ice skating, and skiing, but I wouldn't even say I'm a fan of them either.  If we happen to catch some of them great, if not I'm not gonna cry.  My world doesn't stop.  We haven't studied or even talked much about the games.  If I remember, we might watch some of them this week, but it definately won't be a priority on our school schedule.    The children are definately much more excited about going to Paradise Park tomorrow and Worlds of Fun Thursday than the Olympics.

Okay, so back to the opening ceremonies.  The commentators are discussing how wonderful this year's Olympics are.  How happy the participants look (could have fooled me, yes, some of them were, but many had sour faces). They talked about how prosperous China is becoming (I couldn't help but think about how much of their success is at America's expense--remember all those Polly Pockets that had to be recalled because of lead based paint?) And how wonderful it "feels" to be a part of something so great!

There is no mention of China not keeping even ONE of their promises that they made in order to secure the Olympics.   And yet, the olympics continue.  No, it's not fair to those atheletes that trained, but something could have been done before 2 weeks before the games, couldn't have it?

The atheletes are going to be competing with smog infested air quality.  I understand that the US biking team came off the plane wearing masks, then ended up apologizing for offending the Chinese government, and taking the masks off.  What happened to the communist country apologizing for not keeping their promises and subjecting these first class atheletes to terrible air quality.

The commentators continue to goo-goo and ga-ga about how wonderful it is that China is hosting the olympics.  Let me set the record straight.

It is not wonderful that the entire world is normalizing communism.

Then there is the theme for this year's games.

One World One Dream.

Makes me want to break out and sing...

"I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony"....

"We are the world, we are the children..."

 gag me with a spoon.

Would this dream be the one child per family policy? Or the dream of communism?

Would you believe that Shane just came out clearing his voice and saying that he just couldn't hold it in any longer.  He belted out the first line of "I'd like to teach the world to sing" and said he really wanted to share a Coke with his communist neighbor.  Then he said maybe a Budweiser would be more appropriate... but then that won't work either now since a Belguim company will own Anheuser-Busch before long.

Oh where oh where has the U-S-A gone, Oh where oh where can it be?

If this country elects Obama, we could live out the One World, One Dream motto in 4 years or less...

(btw, if you don't like what I've said please move on, my blog, my thoughts.  The don't violate HSB's TOS.  Any nasty comments will be deleted, thank you.)
