Getting Ready for the Next Schoolyear
Well, I don't want to admit it, but, I need a schedule - a schoolyear schedule. I wanted to just do what we need to do, book by book, move on to the next level whenever we see fit. But, my kids are stuck in the old school mentality. Maybe it's a good thing, I don't know.
I just wanted to have a plan for each week, and if things happened that would cause us to stop schooling for a few days, then it wouldn't hurt because we're always doing school. I understand that many homeschoolers have a "living is learning" mentality, but how do you get your kids to understand this. Sometimes I have to tell them that they just learned something. " We just did 'school', Ha!"
So what was my point? I guess I'm just babbling.

Posted by authorDonna Babbling is permitted to home teachers. It shows that they really are teaching and not just sitting around letting the little darlings run wild. In seriousness, I found that I needed a schedule but it had nothing to do with school. We are--mankind--creatures of habit. We like organization to a certain degree. It gives us a feeling of security. You have to discover what level of organization works best for your family. If I had it to do again, we would do school Monday, Wednesday and Friday all year round and take two weeks off in the summer. But that's just me. Hope you can find the schedule that works for you.
