To Continue "Summer",
To continue where I left off.
My grade is Silver.
My place is 3rd over all in under 12 girls championships.
My times are fast!
Now for something new,
I made a new old fashioned skirt yesterday, it is a pretty shade of mauve, very full, and floor length, it also has a pin tuck along the bottom. It ties at the back bow. It has a smooth waist band too. Soon I am going to the Op Shop, at Cooranbong, to look for stockings, boots, and blouses. Also hats and shawls and coats and all. Maybe we will be lucky!
I don't have a picture of it yet, but when I do I will show you it.

Now it is obviouse that Summers finally ending, with the first signs of Autumn upon us. But with summer, goes Summer activities such as Swimming.
Competitive, casual, just fo fun or serious I think everyone can agree, everyone loves to swim. I have done quite well this season. I have been racing every Friday, alternating between Back-stroke, freestyle and medley one week and breast-stroke, butterfly and freestyle the next.
I train, once a week, anymore would clash with my brothers training days so I can't. I am in a high grade and most of us are pretty evenly matched, sometimes I win sometimes they do.
I have just completed the championships, for this season. The events were, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breastroke, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley. I came 3rd in everything except breaststroke which I came 4th in. In all the races there were 2 girls just faster than me and I tried to pace myself in the long distance ones by copying them, and in everything I was always close behind (in butterfly, I came 3rd by half a stroke!). Those 2 girls, have been swimming for much longer than me, and train in the grade higher than me.
This Friday is presentation night. The theme is Black Friday because it is Friday the 13th.
Please leave a coment and tell me how you are going in swimming and what grades/levels you are up to.
Then I will post my level and grade to you! (don't worry I would never cheat to look better than ANYONE)
Hoopskirt,

She's dressed!!!!!
A few weeks ago we had some rainy days, perfect for sewing.
I started sewing the clothes for my doll straight after breakfast. (you can see I'm still in my pyjamas)
I did the dress first. It is a dress, but it can also be a nightie.
Next, I did the apron, which is reversible.
Lastly, at about 3pm, I sewed the bonnet. The bonnet was the hardest.
I was so happy to get it all finished. I love how she looks and how all the bits match each other.
It was a tiring day.
I'm sewing tote bags now. I'm trying to make some for myself and some for Christmas presents.
I'll post some pics of these next.

I'm making a doll!!!
This week I really felt like sewing. I wanted to make a patchwork quilt or something, so Mum and I looked in a patchwork magazine, and there I found the most gorgeous Amish doll. It had a pattern for the doll and her clothes; the dress, the apron and the bonnet!
I cut out the pattern straight away.

She is made out of calico.
I can't wait to make lots of clothes for her, some old-fashioned, some Amish and some modern.
I'm starting with a gorgeous pink dress, with a mauve apron. They'll look so cute!
I'll put some pics up soon of her first dress.
happy holidays everyone
love Zoe

mistress mary
Mistress Mary,
Quite contrary,
How doese your garden grow?
With silver bells,
And cockleshells,
And pretty maids all in a row.
This nurseery ryme is actually the story of Mary Queen of Scot's. Mistress Mary is, Mary Queen of Scot's. The garden is hers at holyroodhouse, in Scotland. Silver bells are those that chimed at Mary's private Mass. Cockleshells are a badge that is given to Catholic Pilgrims, who had reached the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in spain. The pretty maids are her attendants and friends, that where with her during her triumphs, and then through the missery of her last years, in prison. I recomend to read The dog who Loved a Queen to find out all about her, it is a very lovely book through her little dogs eyes.
