Where to find The Basics

Posted in EquipmentForHorseAndRider

Q: where can find a riding helmet and boots?

A: If there is any co-op near you, that's the best place. If not, look for a farm or feed store near you. They will have helmets and boots and many other useful things. That is where you will find the cheapest. www.bootbarn.com has nice boots! www.doversaddlery.com has helmets, as does www.statelinetack.com . I have found that http://www.shopping.com/-cheap+cowgirl+boots has cheap cowgirl boots! Also, check www.ebay.com! If you STILL can't find anything, it's hopeless. =)

What I usually do is nose around a tack shop or online store (dover is a good one) for the right type of thing that I need. Once I find it, I google the item name and see what kind of deals are out there.

I was just wondering, what's the best way to fall off safely? I fell recently in a lesson when the horse decided to get playful and bolted in all his galloping glory like a thoroughbred out of a starting gate. My instructor said I "landed well," but all I remember is balling up as I went down. It was a really fast fall and hard landing and I was just wondering if that was the best way to land. Thanks for taking my question!
