The Journey.

Beep,beep,beep! That's my alarm clock telling me it's time to get up and ready for school. Blah.

Shut that horrible thing off!

Ok. I said sleeply. Then all of a sudden I jumped up and said, "who's there?" Just like a horse who has been scared out of it's mind! Then I heard someone start laughing. Right next to me, in my bed! I leaped out of my bed, and got my legs all tangled up, and fell on the ground with a thud! It hurt, bad. "Ow." I said rubbing my head. Then I heard someone start cracking up saying,"oh my gosh,are you okay?" Then I saw who it was and remember that Lily had spent the night. I breathed a sigh of relief and said,"ya I'm ok.

I'm sorry if I scared you. Lily said. I climbed back into bed and said, "it's ok, sorry if I scared you." Then I looked at the clock and said,"were going to be so late for school! It's 6:30!"

"Why is my alarm clock so late?" Then I heard Lily start laughing again. "What's so funny? Do you want to get in trouble with Ms.Butkis again?"  I asked. Smiling at myself at our teachers last name.

"No I don't. Said Lily. But we don't have to worry about that till September. We're on summer break remember?"

"Oh my gosh, I totally forgot it's are first day of summer! I said. Woohoo. I yelled!

Shh. Said Lily. Your mom's still asleep! We don't want to wake her up!

Oh ya, whoops. I whispered.

Are you ready to sneak out and go to our favorite place? Lily whispered excitedly.

Heck ya! I said. Let's get dressed real fast. So we put on our jeans and a t-shirt and creeped down the stairs. I looked at the clock in my kitchen, 6:50, good mom probably won't be up for another hour and a half. Once I shut the back door Lily and I took off running! We did this all the time! We loved to race! That's probably why we loved to watch racing so much! Once we got to the barn we were out of breath. Lily won the race! I was so close! So she just smiled and mouthed, "I won!" I smiled and said, "good for you!" We both smiled at eachother one last time,then she opened the little walk in door. I switched on the light and we were greeted with mutible winnies. As is saying feed me. We both laughed.

" Which two should we take out?" Lily asked.

What about Pete and Shazam? I asked.

"I thought your mom said they had to be ridden inside a couple more times." Lily said.

"Your right I forgot. Hmm. Let me think." I said. Pete and Shazam are our warmbloods that needed a little more work.

"What about Lady and Guy?" Lily asked.

"Ya!" I said. Lady and Guy are our two paints. Guy is a Buckskin and white. And Lady is our gray and white. They are just our good ole trail horses.

"I call Lady." Lily said with a smile.

"Ok, I'll take Guy!" I said. So we ran to the tack room and got there bridles! We got Guy and Lady bridled up and hopped on them. As soon as we got out of the barn we took off at a canter which soon turned into a gallop. One thing I loved about Guy was that he had this long flowing stride. So when you galloped him it was like you were flying. I got pulled out of my of my day dream all of a sudden as Guy came to a sliding stop right behind Lady. I gasped cause I wasn't ready for that. Lily looked back at me and said,"which trail should we take, Piper?" In case you were wondering, I'm Piper Marie O'Conner. My mom is the National 3 day eventing champion in the US! She's been all around the country showing and winning! She's even been to Germany! I only hope to be like my mother someday. Her name Carmen O'Conner. Someday that will be me I just know it! Lily and I ride in jumper shows all around Kentucky. Both in youth, but lucky right now she rides in the pony division. There is no way we would be to compete against eachother. But soon were going to be riding on the same team! My mom is going to start her own team soon. She is going to have try outs Saturday! Which is tomorrow! I'm so excited! Lily and I will help pick them out, because of course were on the team already. We can't wait to wipe the snotty look off Brittany's face! Brittany is a girl I've been competing against since 1st grade. Her mom and her are really rich. They have a barn 15 minutes away from our place. There barn is a two story barn with a huge indoor and outdoor arena, but the poor horses don't have a window in there stalls. The only time they get to get out of there stalls is when they get worked into the ground. And then they go right back into there stalls. They have like twenty grooms for their big place, and they take care of everything, but the bills. Which I understand it is there job, but stiil the owners do like nothing with there horses but ride them twice a week!

"Earth to Piper are you in there?" All of a sudden I felt Lily's hand bumping my head.

"What, did you say something, Lily?" I asked. Lily nodded her head and said, "which trail should we take? But maybe we should take you back so you can get some more sleep."

"No, I'm fine, sorry. I said. Let's take the trail to the right." I said and smiled.

"Okey dokey!" Lily said excitedly. So we turned right and took off at a gallop!
