Oct. 30, 2006 My 2nd Riding Lesson
Today I was on a Thoroughbred Quarter Horse named Cinnamon. She was chestnut with a tiny white star. We did everything the same as what we did the last time. There wasn't anyone else at the lesson so I had the whole ring to myself.
We went through our exercises and the trot and the walk. Cinnamon kept going to the gate because she thought she was done. I had to keep turning her around to keep her going the right way.
When we were done I led her out of the gate. She gave a big long sigh because she was happy she was done. Then I took her tack off and groomed her. I gave her some carrots I had saved until after the lesson. Then I led her through the barn and into the paddock.
I like Cinnamon and Angel the same, but maybe Angel a tad bit more. Cinnamon doesn't like to listen, and I have to hold a crop to make her trot. Cinnamon thinks she is the boss most of the time. Angel is slow but steady. I like her because she is smaller and easier to mount and dismount.

Oct. 19, 2006 Continued--- The Mysteryous Pink Egg
As I was saying, we always go to my mom's parents house for easter and I don't think Mom and Dad hide eggs anyway. Well I went upstairs to get dres- was that somthing furry that just disappeared around the corner? No, I am just seeing things, I thought. Then I went to my room and the window was open, but the screen was still in place! Funny, I didn't open it because it was closed when I went downstairs. I went over and shut it ,then got ready for the day. As I was going down the stairs I heard a crunching noise and looked down. Oh great! I had just stepped on a blue egg and it was smushed into the carpet. I started to panick because my mom would be REALY mad! She had just rented the best carpet cleaner for $500 and she had worked realy hard...........................

Oct. 18, 2006 My Horse Lesson
I went to a horse lesson today. I was on a little bay Arabian named Angel. She was small and cute but also stubborn( no offense, Angel! ). But she made a good mount for beginers because she was 20 years old!
The riding instructor caught her from the field and I led her back, cross tied her, went to get the grooming kit and started grooming her. I started with the currycomb and went all over one side then the other. Then, I used a hard brush, then a soft brush. She was realy shiny and soft when I finished grooming her. Then I went to get her tack. I came back with her saddle pad ( they called it underwear! ) , her saddle, girth, and bridle. Then my 'teacher' came and helped me put her tack on. Then I took her reins and walked her into the arena.
My friend, Sidney got on her horse first ( we were riding english ). She was on a Thoroughbred named Easy-does-it, but we called her Easy ( she was also 20 ) . She mounted first and then I did. We walked over an obstacle course and then we trotted over it. It had barrels that we had to zigzag them, then we went to a path we had to guide our horses into, then there was rocks on poles that we had to stop, pick up a rock, ride over to another pole, and put the rock on that pole. Then we had to trot over some poles that were laying on the ground. It was lots of fun!
Then we led our horses out of the arena, crosstied them, and we untacked them put up the tack, and groomed them. Then we put them in their stalls and gave them some food. I'm going back next month and I'm going to do western riding.

Hi everybody! I made a mummy( it isn't real ). I shaped it out of newspaper, covered it with paper maiche, and let it dry overnight. Then we made a box out of paper ( I know that seems impossible ), painted it black, then we painted a design on the box. I put symbols on the white part.

Here is a pic of the lid.

Did you know that cats were mummified also? Other kinds of animals were too. Mummies were made in other places not just Ancient Egypt.
Ancient Egyptians put things like jewels, clothes, and food in the coffin because they thought they would need that stuff in the afterlife.
I like learning about mummies because it is weird.

Apr. 26, 2006 My Shell Collection
I have a shell collection with lots of shells. Here is a picture of my lion's paw scallop.

It is bigger than my hand!
I also have a seahorse skeleton.

It is my second favorite from the lion paw.
Then I have some snail shells and a crab claw that my dad got me from lake Michigan, and a sand dollar that my grandma got from Florida, and some other things.

This may not seem like a lot,but I got heaps more that I don't have pics of!

Apr. 18, 2006 Martin's Story
My mom saw this lizard while we were taking a walk and I quickly snapped a picture.

It was cool because I just moved down from Indiana to Tennessee and I've never seen a wild lizard before. It wasn't very big, from head to tail it was only about the length of your hand!
I'm going to try to catch one of these wiggle wiggleys somtime! |

Apr. 13, 2006 My Pet Caterpillers
I have 3 pet caterpillers, Tickler, Lady, and Buddy.

The one on my hand is Tickler. The brown one on the net is Lady. The black beside Lady is Buddy.

I found 20 of them on my back porch yesterday. My friend Lorri was with me. She was afraid to touch one until I did. My other friend Lyndsey took one home with her to keep it as a pet like I did. I let the rest go in the woods behind our house. That is where our club is too.
Today, my brother, Gibson, and I went outside to get the caterpillers some fresh bedding and food.

He doesn't want to touch the caterpillers because he is scared they will bite him! |
