I went to a horse lesson today. I was on a little bay Arabian named Angel. She was small and cute but also stubborn( no offense, Angel! ). But she made a good mount for beginers because she was 20 years old!
The riding instructor caught her from the field and I led her back, cross tied her, went to get the grooming kit and started grooming her. I started with the currycomb and went all over one side then the other. Then, I used a hard brush, then a soft brush. She was realy shiny and soft when I finished grooming her. Then I went to get her tack. I came back with her saddle pad ( they called it underwear! ) , her saddle, girth, and bridle. Then my 'teacher' came and helped me put her tack on. Then I took her reins and walked her into the arena.
My friend, Sidney got on her horse first ( we were riding english ). She was on a Thoroughbred named Easy-does-it, but we called her Easy ( she was also 20 ) . She mounted first and then I did. We walked over an obstacle course and then we trotted over it. It had barrels that we had to zigzag them, then we went to a path we had to guide our horses into, then there was rocks on poles that we had to stop, pick up a rock, ride over to another pole, and put the rock on that pole. Then we had to trot over some poles that were laying on the ground. It was lots of fun!
Then we led our horses out of the arena, crosstied them, and we untacked them put up the tack, and groomed them. Then we put them in their stalls and gave them some food. I'm going back next month and I'm going to do western riding.
