Well, I went to horse camp on Tuesday.
When I got there I saw E and B. I put my stuff in the barn and was walking around trying to warm up. It was cold! LOL!
Well, I saw Mrs. G and Mr. J. So I knew that they were instructing that day. E, B, Vols and I helped bring in the horses. It was crazy! Romeo went into Montana's stall. Montana went into Cowboy's stall. BJ wouldn't let poor Cowboy in.
It was a mess.
Once we got Romeo back into his stall and put Montana in her's and helped Cowboy to his stall. We thought we were done. But E asked "Is this Mr. Kelly?" I looked into the stall and Ben was in it. Not Mr. Kelly!
So we fough Ben so we could get Mr. Kelly into his. Finally we got it.
We tacked up the horses that were being used. I got Ben. YAY!
Finally we got horses assigned to camp kids and got them mounted. I went to go get Ben and had to push Montana out of the way. Well, I heard Mr. Joe say "You are in the wrong spot you need to move." So I quickly went under the wire and turned to see what he was talking about. Montana moved and was about to kick me.
Whew.
So Mr. J got Montana for Vols so I could get Ben.
Once I mounted Mr. J said that I was to be last in line. So I stayed behind. Once on trail was when war began between me and Ben.
Ben was a show stud, so he thinks he needs to show when being ridden. So I had a hard time getting him to walk normally. The only way I could do that was to tighten up the reins. But Ben was so use to the showing world that every time you try to keep him at a walk he arches his neck and prances. It is fun to ride him but not while he prances.
Ben got nervous when we went down a HUGE hill. So I spoke to him to let him know that he was ok.
Back at the stable, E started to water the horses and I told B about Clearence and Mr. Kelly.
Mr. Kelly is a lot shorter than CLearence but they are half brothers. They both have a Quarter Horse shire but Clearence has a Thoroughbred dam.
We went into the barn and Mr. J started teaching the camp kids. So E, B and I went for a walk in the pasture. I showed them were we buried Mea and Butterball. We also went for a walk into the private barn. I showed them little Zeban. "Aww...He is so cute!" Was all I heard from them.
I wanted to show them Chris, one of the private horses, but he was out in pasture. So we walked to the end of the private barn and saw a painted Arabian. He was so pretty!
We went back to the stable barn and Mr. J said he will let us eat lunch and he had to go get lunch for him and Mrs. G.
E, B and I sat together at a table. And we ate. Once done we watched the camp kids play out side. Mr. J came back and started teaching the camp kids again.
I learned two things.
- Is that Green, for horses, means that the horses is rideable but not trained.
- Bomb Proof means a horse that doesn't spook much.
So that was helpful stuff to know.
Second trail....was to cool!
Mr. J and Mrs. G saw a man on a dirt bike, thise and 4-wheelers are not alowed at our stable, So Mrs. G goes after the man on Romeo. Well she came back saying that she couldn't catch the guy.
Mr. J saw the man and ran after him on Cowboy. MAN! That horse is FAST!
Mr. J was about one furlong away from the guy and then in 2 seconds flat was two horse lengths way from the guy. It was awesome.
Mr. J came back to trail and he lost his hat so he had to go back and find it.
That trail was awesome.
When we got back E, B and I just sat around watching camp kids and listening to Mrs. G.
MamaHen and Mamaw came and picked us up. Of course...knowing MamaHen and Mamaw, we were Geocaching.
