Stepping Heavenward

The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it,
but that it is too low and we reach it. ~Michaelangelo

Finishing Up
May. 12, 2008

The school year is (finally!) starting to wind down. I hope to finish everything by the third week of June. I ended up cutting poetry short. John memorized 23 poems and I am satisfied. Both boys have finished their spelling and Saxon math programs. John also has finished penmanship, astronomy, and his Bible program. I've folded him into Bible with Noah which we all are really enjoying.

John is still working on Singapore 3B, Latin, Grammar, History, and Science. We are pushing through history and science one section a day in order to finish them four weeks earlier than I had planned. Also, Noah has been sitting in with us to experience a taste of what next year will be like for him. Noah is still working on Singapore 1A & 1B (he'll finish 1A next Monday and begin 1B next Tuesday), Penmanship, and Phonics.

Congratulations!

We will never, ever finish. The curriculum we are using had a 1-year and 2-year schedule. Marissa wanted to do the 1-year schedule because she wanted to finish in time to do Post Secondary Education Option in the 12th grade and attend the local community college. I suspect this curriculum really takes 1-1/2 years. We will have to work through the summer to finish...

Playing catch up

I am cruising around catching up on my blog reading tonight - it is so very nice :) I hesitate to go back and comment on old posts, you may never see it, so I wanted to 'bunch it all together" here.

*you have more gusto than I do at this point. I thought we'd school until mid-June, but now I'm offering free ponies to those who want to self-motivate and finish early! I'm shooting for the last week of May.

*The garden looks great. I am so inspired by all my gardening friends - but I seriously lack consistent sunlight. I'll have to live vicariously through yours ;)

*I got a giggle over #82 - we read a Baptist version of the Westminster as a family and read over the Ten Commandments section this week. The boys were gasping! "How long do we get??"

* I see you read Passionate Housewives :) Glad it was encouraging. Meek and quiet? Remember, we are BEING transformed into His image. In the Greek I believe that is a present perfect verb - continually occuring; not having already occured. I place much faith and hope in that.

Good to visit,
Cindy
