I found this in the August 2008 American Baby magazine and I found the same information on the web. Do I totally buy into? Not entirely - it was a small study, but why would a pregnant woman really want to say No to chocolate - especially when it might have a fabulous "side-effect" like this?!
Here it is:
A Choco-delicious Pregnancy
Chocolate ice cream? Check. Dark Chocolate Bar? Check. Chocolate Chips? Check.
New Research shows that these treats should be a regular part of your diet. Yum! Yale University scientists studied 2,291 pregnant women. Their findings: those who ate at least five weekly chocolate servings were 40 percent less likely to develop preeclampsia, a condition that's life threatening to mom and baby, than those who had it once a week. So eat up! And go for dark chocolate when you can - it has many more disease-fighting flavonals than the milk variety.

Soooo - anyone for some chocolate??

Welcome to the Thoroughly Organized Thursday Meme! I hope you are having a good week. Well, I started this meme, not because I’m some major organizational guru, but quite the opposite, this is an area I REALLY struggle with. I have found over the years that not only has the lack of organization cost me time, but it has cost me a lot of money. I really hope to learn from others as well as being a blessing to you. Something to remember as you are considering organization is, that no one does it exactly the same. Just because it works for one person, does not mean it will work for you, so don’t feel like you are doing something wrong, if it doesn’t work, just set it aside an try something different. Organization should save you time, energy, or money, and sometimes they will save in more than one category. If it is causing you to stress out or is costing you time and energy, it’s not really helping you be more organized.
My tip for today: Put it in a basket
Have you even noticed things just seem to look nicer in a basket??? Baskets don’t just have to be the wicker kind, plastic bins can work really well also. I have quite a few smaller science books for Little One that just did not fit well on the book shelf. I bought an inexpensive dish tub (in bright red no less!!!) from Walmart for less than $2.00 and piled the books in it. It works perfectly. No more books falling off the shelf and it is easy to look through. The bright color also looks really good in the schoolroom.
I’m still working on my Home Management Binder. Here are a few forms I made this week for it if they could be a use to you.

Jul. 23, 2008
It's been almost a month since my last entry and I can't remember what's happened more than 3 days ago , so I'll just write about my dd's birthday:) On Monday of this week my dd celebrated her 14th birthday. We are so proud of the young lady she is growing up to be. She had about 21 kids (or should I say teens) over for her party Monday evening and 7 girls slept over. Well, actually only 3 of them slept. I expected them to stay up really late, but my dd and 4 others stayed awake ALL night. Yep, only 3 girls went to sleep. Here is a slide show of her party and sleepover.
I made her an ice cream cake like the one I described below for ds's birthday. They played several games and I think a great time was had by all. The first game they played had 2 teams, had to put on a pair of boxers (over their clothing of course), get to the finish line with a balloon between their legs, pop it with no hands or feet, run back take their boxers off and the next person had to do the same thing. It was so funny watching them play this game. I think the next game was called dragons tail where they formed a line and place their hands on the persons shoulders in front of them, and the first person had to get the "tail" from the last person without breaking the "dragon". Then they played the lifesaver game....I think the Brithday Girl was the only one that couldn't get the candy on the toothpick. Sorry Chasity, I just had to tell that. I'm not sure what the next game was called, but they passed around a trashbag full of clothing items, accessories, and even some lipstick, etc. When the music stopped, whoever had the bag had to pick an item from the bag without looking and put the item on. It was really funny. Then they went outside and played Sardines (basically hide and go seek for those of you who've never heard of it) until about 11:30. Right before the game of Sardines ds set off the rest of his fireworks he had left from the 4th of July. Then all the ones who weren't staying left and the girls played a few more games, and popped some popcorn and started a movie at around 1:30 am. I somehow managed to roll out of the bed at 7:30 to cook pancakes for the girls. On Tuesday, Chasity and her friend Kasey slept from 1:00 to 4:00 and woke up asking to go the mall:)
Chasity had a great 14th Birthday!
We expect a painless delivery on August 4th!
The teens are learning to drive on our old vehicle.
You've been officially warned!

Today's appt. went well (other than my bp flipping out for them again, lol). On our way home, we got the lab results from the doctor via phone call! My protein level is below 300!
The bedrest & Prayers (most likely the prayers!) have worked! While I will still be watched closely from here on out and am still on bed rest, I think I will actually be able to relax better!
Thank you everyone for your prayers.
I just received the sad news that a good friend of mine from college has passed away. She was only 39. Her husband was also a good friend ( and in fact, I introduced them to one another.) They have 2 little boys. Please keep their family in your prayers!
My first ever meme, from By Sun and Candlelight . Hope you enjoy!
1. What were you doing 10 years ago?
My husband and I had just completed his first full year in Bible College. We had moved there after our salvation and marriage. We had our oldest daughter who was 3 when we moved and our second born daughter who was 6 months when we moved. We were living in a rented house in a great neighborhood. We only paid $350 month for this house. Those where the days!
2. What are 5 things on my to-do list for today:
- Tidy Up (We deep cleaned yesterday)
- Take a bike ride to the library with all the kids
- Have a nice lunch
- Lay baby boy down to bed for a nap and do some summer school
- Work in the garden
3. Snacks I enjoy:
- Glass of chocolate milk
- Bowl of cereal
- Hot tea with vanilla creamer and english muffin with homemade jam
- bagel and cream cheese
- chocolate chip cookies and cold glass of milk
4. Things I would do if I were a billionare:
- Buy my grandma a new house
- Give to my church
- Support married & bible college students with scholorships
- Buy a farm with a specially designed house. I want a huge school / play room with a garden atrium in the center, wood flooring thoughout, tons of shelves, decorated like pottery barn. The farm would only be used for our own family's needs, not to sell.
- Help build bike trails and provide high quailty bike's and surrey's for the those in need. I would love less dependence on cars. I think the surrey's would be awesome if they could be enclosed for poor weather. (I also want a horse and buggy.) I think the Amish should have their own roads that are seperate from the main car roads in their counties. The cars FLY by them and high speeds. Believe me, we know. Maybe tomorrow I tell you about my bike trip through Holmes County!

5. Places I have lived:
- Ohio
- Minnesota
- Illinois
- Michigan
Please keep it going! If you do this meme, leave me a note that you did it!

I am off the couch for an upright moment (I am finding I need those periodically - gets my blood flowing).
My Dad and Carol are on their way back to OK. I believe they stopped in St. Louis for the night.
Monday's appt. went okay - I guess. My weight is stable and while my blood pressure was again elevated, I was able to compare my cuff to their's (very close!) and then able to show them that my bp was FINE out in the waiting room and in the van 15 min prior to that. Soooo, the one thing that we are watching closely is the protein levels being spilled.
I am in the midst of the joyous task of completing a 24 hour urine collection (such a joy, lol). We should know either tomorrow night or Thurs. morning the results of the protein from that. We will be going forward from there. If they have not come down (or heaven forbid, gone up), then the doctor wants to give me steroids to help (potentially) speed up the maturation of Jr's lungs and help prevent brain bleeds in case he has to be delivered early. I am praying that we make it to the middle/end of Sept. at minimum and preferably into Oct. I know that God can make that happen if it is in His will. I simply need to remember that hourly (sometimes by the minutes).
Interestingly, the day I took that walk to the library, I stocked up on a bunch of books to read while I was there. I am glad of that now. I thought I was a little crazy at the time, picking up so many books, but God knew what I needed and put it in my hands - literally. I will write at a later time the neat series that He put into my hands - a wonderful read - I started & finished the first book today (can you tell I was on the couch all day!?!).
I need to go brush my teeth and get ready for bed. I am actually tired - can laying down all day really make one that tired? I will update again after I get back the next set of lab results. My husband is off tomorrow still so he can do the driving (yea!). After that, it is the children and I during the day for the rest of the week.
Caterpillar

Chrysalis
Butterfly

Up until this point, this is all we have seen when we have ordered caterpillars.
But LOOK !!! This year we get to see the COMPLETE cycle!!!!
EGGS!

AND...right back to Caterpillars!!! ( they're so tiny and cute!!!)

How tiny? Well here's a photo with my thumbnail in the picture...

It's so incredible! (Now...how to find enough food for about 100 baby caterpillars?!?!)

I hope you are having a wonderful week. I was able to go out to dinner with my friend and get caught up with her. I do have a prayer request for her though. Her sister- in -law who is a young woman (about 40) has been fighting cancer for 3 years now and it and it seems like it is getting harder for her to fight it off. This family has 4 children the oldest only 12. Her youngest had to be born prematurely because of the cancer and has lived her whole life with her mommy very sick. This family is a wonderful family and it just tears me up inside when I think of what they are going through. You see I knew her brother very well (30 years) and he dated his wife from the time he was like in jr. high I think so I was just a little girl when they started going out and since I hung out at my friend's house a lot, I knew her too. Could you please pray for this lovely woman and her family?
Thursday (starting late Wednesday night), I will be doing Thoroughly Organized Thursday and if you want to join in just put a post out on some organizing tip (for home or school) and sign Mr. Linky when it is up. If you can't think of a tip, please still feel free to come back and read my post!!!
Please leave me a comment to let me know you came by!
