Family Time

Well it has been a pretty good weekend. We took a little family time running around some. First hubby wanted to look at a backhoe. That didn't turn out to be anything we wanted. It had too many problems. So we went to the grocery store and got a few things to have a picnic. Then we decided to drive down to Grand Gulf in Mammoth Springs Arkansas. That is one of my son's favorite spots. We got there and it was really crowded so we went to the State Park instead. It was packed too but we found a nice little spot to have our picnic. After that we went over  to the Hatchery but the main part was closed because of the flooding we had a couple weeks ago. But they did have their little aquarium room open. They have a small alligator in there and we have never seen it move, not once. Well yesterday was no different. It sure looks dead to me but what do I know. I do know that alligators can be very still.

Hope you all had a great weekend also.

A picnic sounds like so much fun! We really need to start going to some of our state parks. Most have a $4 to $5 admission per vehicle though. Sure makes it tough when you're already shelling out $3.56/gallon for gas. Ugh!

You are so right about alligators being very still. We had to go to Super Target today and the zoo is less than 5 minutes away. We bought a membership so we can take the kids for a couple of hours each time we need to make the trip to Target. Anyway, the alligators always look like stone statues every time we are there. Thankfully we've never had one in our pond (that we know of!). I heard a snippet on the news this past week that a woman in Orlando heard a racket in her kitchen during the night and found an 8 foot alligator in there! I never did hear any more of the story though. I need to try to look that up. I'd love to know how it got into her house.

Apr. 28, 2008 - People shy?

Posted by Spitfires

Maybe the alligator's shy, or just plain grumpy!!! :)

All I know about alligators etc. is crocodiles ) and I guess they don't move around too much either, except at dinnertime! Do you know when they feed him?
