Well we had our county fair this past week and we decided to enter a few things.

Son entered some Banana Peppers that he grew and won 2nd place ribbon plus $2.00. Then he also entered some yellow crooked neck squash and won 1st place and $3.00 and some zucchini squash and won 3rd place and $1.00. This was the first year we have entered anything and so that was a really great experience for him and myself too. The newspaper was there and took his picture too to put into our local paper. We took these pictures after the fair ended and we picked everything up. 

 And I entered 4 of my paintings and won 4th place each on the Rooster and The Bible (the one on the header of my blog). You can see the Rooster one on one of my past postings with the Friday Show and Tell. Anyways, that is the first ribbons I have ever won in my life also. I also got my picture taken for the paper too. How cool.

Congratulations! Son's veggies look terrific.
I'm glad you entered your pictures - I can only wish that the paper had written an entire article under your picture - you haven't been an artist all your life, have you? As I understand it, you've just recently (past few years) began to draw - a hidden talent you uncovered.

We have fair this week - Rachel is in the Western Pleasure Horse competition. We've never entered for anything, either. The horse competition is very interesting - very expensive, too. There's a lot of requirements I would have never dreamed - leather halters, leather bridles, special kinds of bits, show type of clothing, etc................
So far it's been fun, Rachel has gone to 4-h practice every tuesday night of her entire summer - with her horses. She has really worked hard training her horse (and herself). It's been a good thing. Tomorrow is the first competition.
I'll be busy this week - coming and going checking on the horses and Rachel!
