New Calf

I will tell you right off that if you are a little squimish you may want to skip the first picture. One of our milk cows was calving this morning and we ended up having to pull it. This is as far as she could get. She got so weak that we thought she was going to not be able to get up when she fell down.

So I had son run to the barn and grab a rope and I tied it around it's feet and got around a tree and pulled him out.

Took a little bit to get her up and I finally moved the calf to her side some so she could see it and then she got up. This next one is where he is trying to stand. He is a big calf. He is almost as big as my 3 month old calves out in the field.

Here's the final picture of him and mom.

Hope you enjoyed the trip down farm lane. lol Have a wonderful day.

Dot

we've had to do that before. It is no fun! We had one that was so big the vet had to come out and cut the calf into pieces and remove it that way. It was a birth that I was very squeamish about!
Have a wonderful week!

Wow - you got some great pictures Dot!
That was amazing.
The little guy is so cute and little - and the mommy - she's a beautiful cow, such a pretty face.
Were expecting two babies any day now - we have two pregnant mares. I can't wait!

This is totally amazing!!! How wonderful that you had the camera there and even more so that you and son where there to help her!!! If the calf is the size of your three months out in the field, make no wonder poor mommy cow had trouble!!
Thanks for sharing.
