"I am comforted by life's stability, by earth's unchangeableness.
What has seemed new and frightening
assumes its place in the unfolding of knowledge.
It is good to know our universe.
What is new is only new to us."

It is comforting to know there is a certain stability in life and in the earth. Stabilities like the sun rising each morning, birds flying and singing, trees standing, flowers blooming, animals existing, learning new concepts, getting different and deeper perspectives, etc..
And as she said, when we 'discover' something new, frightening, or unknown to us previously, it does not remain new, frightening, or unknown. The newness takes it's place in our 'file cabinet' of knowledge, just as all the previous discoveries had done.
I like the last phrase "What is new is only new to us." The Bible says, in John 1:3 ~
"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."
All of our 'new' discoveries, concepts, perspectives, etc... have always existed. He created them all. Yet He leads us through each day allowing us to see 'this' or 'that', and it is new in our eyes.
It kind of makes me think of how we sometimes will buy a gift for our child and keep it in our closet. It's there, they just haven't discovered it yet. But at the right time, we allow them to see it, we give it to them, and they are able to see this 'new' thing. It isn't as new to us as it is to them. Yet, it thrills us that they are so eager and excited to receive it.
I can imagine that it thrills the Lord when we are so eager and excited about the things He shows us. And I am confident that it thrills Him even more when we appreciate them and offer our praise to Him for those things.
