Little Ones in Church...

Posted in Family Altar

Yesterday we attended a new church. We returned for the evening service as well.

This church is a small church and does not really have a nursery worker in the evening service

though the nursery is offered for you to use, if needed...

which we knew before we returned.

I have always loved the idea of family worship but, unfortuneately,

we have not quite incorporated it into our family fully.

We have often, in the past, kept the lil' girls with us during the singing portion

of the service but not through the entire service.

Well, yesterday evening we did sit in the service together as an entire family

with great success, by the grace of God.

I was amazed (though I shouldn't have been - He IS able) that our lil' girls

sat through the entire service very well. We barely got a peep from them!

We do not allow our children to do anything in church except sit and listen

so this was especially a big deal.

What a blessing the Lord gave us!

In addition, while driving home, hubby commented how he really liked

that we were all in the service together... as a family.

Again, I was surprised (though, again, I shouldn't have been)

that hubby saw that as being such a positive thing.

Not just an 'okay' thing, but he really, really liked it!

We sang "Showers of Blessings" in the morning service

and, oh, how it fit the day. The Lord showered His blessings on us... on me.

What a blessed Lord's Day it truly was!

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord."

~ Psalm 122:1

Shared thoughts...

Monday, July 24, 2006 - family church

Thoughts shared by quietcajun

We have been struggling with this for years and though our church has a children's program we have all five of our with us RIGHT up front... in the second row. (the only reason we do not sit in the front row is that those pews are shorter than the rest and we do not all fit.

It has been hard, but we DO it and sometimes we get comments from others telling us how much it blesses them to see our children in church WITH us. And how I love it when my youngest climbs up into my arms during worship and sings softly into my ear!

Monday, July 24, 2006 - It can be done...only by the grace of God :)!

Our family likes the same concept. Sometimes our 4 yo son gets into his curious & talkative mood :). Then my daughter would take him to his class and stay with him. Our older two (13 and 7) have no problems and love to be in the service.

P.S. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a sweet comment. I have enjoyed reading your posts and admiring your pictures. You're such a blessing in this bloggie world! By the way, my 13 yo daughter also enjoys visiting your daughter's blog. She's such a sweetie like mine :).
