It Begins...

Posted in Daily Life

Yesterday, as I dropped off some donation items

I was able to gather some boxes

so that we can begin our adventures in packing.

Today we began those adventures.

The girls were enjoying playing on the boxes...

Ally and I were able to pack up three good size boxes in the kitchen

of things that we won't need to use for a while.

Then I headed off to my sitting room to pack up some books.

Hmmm.... books.

I love books! Really!

And I have enough books to have my own small private library.

And that's no joke.

Over the years I have collected many books.

Books from thrift stores, from Gramma and others, from purchasing,

from garage sales, from library discards, and other places.

Lots of books! It truly is a blessing.

And I also tend to get lots of jesting from my sweet hubby

about the quantity of books we have.

I have at least 8 bookshelves and still need more.

Some books lay on top of the other books that are in the bookshelves,

some are in drawers, some have already been packed away for a while,

and some are in milk crates stacked in the children's rooms.

One of these days, I hope to get a good organizational system

for our personal library, but that's sometime in the future.

I guess my point was that packing up an entire bookshelf of books today

wasn't exactly done with the best of ease.

I frequently ran across many of them that I didn't want to pack...

Saying "ooh! That's a good one!" "oh! That one, too!"

"Do I really want to pack that for so long?" "What if I could use that one?"

"I'll have to remember to pull that one aside when we unpack."

On and on I sat with my dear books, reminising with them.

Okay... that may be a bit strange, but, as I said, I love books!

The woes of packing!

And this is only the beginning!

But I, at least, have one bookshelf down!

Hubby and I packed up a trailer of stuff from the garage

so he and Will could take it to the storage unit...

Some of our things had been previously packed in plastic bins

because of the humidity here.

We were able to fill the trailer.

We couldn't help but laugh at this fella...

That's my hubby's Marine mascot.

I gave it to him before we got married

and he travels where ever we go.

The gentlemen took off to the storage unit

and I came into the cooled house to sit here

and tell y'all about our day.

Ally, on the other hand, was thrilled to be able to mow the grass...

Maybe you can tell her mouth is opened...

I caught her singing to herself, which she does often when she mows.

How sweet. Always a song in her heart.

Well, I'm off to get supper started... and finished.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Saturday, September 2, 2006 - Packing

Thoughts shared by Shereen

Wow, in my last comment I mentioned something about packing. I didn't think you were getting to it already. That was quick. You made me laugh with the books. When we thought we were going to move, I did the same thing. I left out so many books and little projects I wanted to work on, etc. because I didn't want them to be packed that long. lol ;0) By the way, I love that picture of Ally singing on the lawn mower. How precious!! It looks like you have done a great job with her.
p.s. I hope you don't mind, I added you to my blog, on the left side.

Blessings,
Shereen

Saturday, September 2, 2006 - Ally

Thoughts shared by Happymama

I loved the picture of Ally on the mower. I knew immediately that she was singing and got tickled because my son, Justin, does the SAME thing. He'll be mowing and singing to the very top of his lungs. It's hilarious and brings me a smile.

I was REALLY tickled when I saw all those Rubbermaid totes.

I posted several links of news articles concerning Wal Mart on my blog.
