Delighting in Dough...

Posted in Family Fun

Yesterday afternoon, the children and I

decided to make some play dough.

They were very excited about helping to make it.

We gathered in the corner of the kitchen

and each added a specific ingredient...

Will had the job of adding the flour...

He took it upon himself to level it off, too...

Carolynne had the job of pouring in the coloring...

And Beth had the job of pouring in the salt...

The girls took turns stirring it before I added the liquid ingredients...

And Will and Ally helped stir after we added the liquids...

And viola! We had dough...

(Delightful Dough Recipe here)

We put a tablecloth on the dining room table

and the children eagerly sat down to play...

I gave them some of our cookie cutters to make various shapes...

I helped Carolynne with her ducky and then she was ready to try...

Here she is trying to make one herself

by stuffing the cookie cutter with dough...

Here I helped Beth make a heart...

She quickly caught on and started making her own.

Here she is with a foot...

Will had no problems getting started...

Here he is with his foot...

They had lots of fun and spent quite some time

sitting at the table making more shapes.

It made me wonder... Why hadn't I done this before?

This is the same play dough recipe I use. My children only think Kool Aid packets are used for making play dough!

I see you have the same green with white striped dish towels that I have. (I also have white with green, but I try to buy dark colors so I won't have ugly stained dish towels!)

Thoughts shared by Anonymous

There was a time my darling daughter, when you and your sister and brother
sat doing the same thing I really enjoyed watching your creations.Seems
like yesterday, but was yesteryears, if there is such a word.
After reading your articles, I want to tell you that you are still precious to me.
Thank you for being such a wonderful daughter.

Oh, it looks like they all had so much fun. I am going to have to give that one a try. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I remember doing something similar to that when I was child, bored at my grandmother's house. lol But I don't think I added the color to it. Does it stay pretty soft if you put it in a baggie or container? I'll let you know how it turns out.
