Park Day and Pizza Night...
Posted in Daily Life
Today we had our homeschool group's park day meeting.
The children were thrilled (and Mommy)
to get outdoors for the afternoon.
The weather was gorgeous. The humidity was gone
and there were frequent, cool breezes. It was beautiful.
The children loved being able to play
and I enjoyed being able to fellowship.
Beth and Carolynne were excited to ride this together...

Will joined in the fun, too...

He also enjoyed playing on the merry-go-round with his friend...

Ally enjoyed sitting at the picnic table working in her chemistry
(yes, she enjoyed it)...

Beth enjoyed an adventure in climbing...

While Carolynne stayed in the safety of Mama's lap...
(she was afraid of all the 'love bugs')...

Ally also took some time to push her sisters in the swings...

Afterwards, she retreated to the bench in the background
to listen to her tape recorder she had brought...
What was she listening to??
A song about the periodic table from her Chemistry.
It is a rapid speaking, pretty hilarious, song
with all of the periodic elements in it.
But, yes... she enjoyed it!
The lil' girls also took a break to have a snack with a friend...

Will was much too busy running with the boys and playing
for me to get many photos of him.
I was glad to see all of them having fun.
Later this evening, at home, it was our weekly sourdough pizza night
and I had another little helper...

She loves to be in the kitchen
and usually wants to sit on the counter to help or watch.
I gave her a small ball of dough for her to roll out and play with.
It's always nice to have helpers in the kitchen!
It was a great day.
We especially enjoyed being outdoors most of the day,
enjoying the beautiful weather the Lord provided for us!

During your pregnacies, did you ever feel..well, not quite up to taking care of the family? Your family is so precious to you, and if you have ever been ill or not quite the energetic self you seem to be, I would imagine that your heart would ache like mine over all the things I *wish* I was doing with and for my family. I'm wondering how you got by during those down times...especially if your husband was away and not able to help with the children. My children are 10, 8, 6, 1, and we are expecting in April. I've been extreemy dizzy and nauseated...embarrassed over the volume of housework that has been let go, disenhearted over our new "less than ideal" eating habits we've temporarily adopted, and grieving over all the adventures and learning experiences we are missing out on together as a family. I'm very grateful that you share your family with us. I'm very inspired and blessed by you and your children. I've only been reading your blog for a few months. I'm curious about your experience and how you have handled the down times.

In answer to your question:
My husband is active duty Navy. He is prior enlisted and was promoted to Limited Duty Officer almost 8 years ago. He is now a Lt.
That WOULD be awesome if the Lord allowed our PHYSICAL paths to cross someday and I thank Him for allowing our blogging paths to cross for now!

(I hope you visit, again, and find this...)
I wanted to thank you for leaving your comment/questions.
My heart ached for you, because I remember those times.
I wanted to let you know that I will be responding to your comment as soon as I am able to sit and do so uninterupted. Lord willing, it will be within the next day or so. In the meantime, please know that as I am praying the Lord will guide me in my response, I am also fervently praying for you, dear sister.
Laboring in Prayer ~

Thank you for commenting on our blog! I love the song on yours, it is so pretty!
I just wanted to share a bit about harps that might help if your daughter in interested in playing one. Pedal harps, the kind in orchestras, are very expensive, but the other kind of harp, lever harps (this is what I have), are much, much less expensive! I started out on a lap harp from Musicmaker's Kits (www.musikit.com), the Limerick lap harp; you could probably get one for $1000. Lap harps are wonderful; small, lightweight, easily trasportable, and are just like large harps, only small! Musicmaker's tends to be a bit expensive, but there are other companies that make the Limerick for less. And, if you didn't want to spend that much, there is a world of inexpesive, quality harps out there ($600, maybe). Anyway, hope this helps, the harp is so fun to play and everyone loves the sound, so I love to help everyone I can to get started!
