Today the children and I loaded up into the van
to drive to the bank to pay our mortgage.
(Lord willing, our last one on this particular house)
Why am I sharing the fact that I paid my mortgage today?
For no reason other than to share where we had to go to do so.

I hope the photo is still readable.
Ally took this photo through her window
and we noticed that her dress was reflecting from it
and it showed up in this photo.
This is a building built in 1897, still used by Marines...

"Iron Mike"...

One of our favorite monuments...

The flag raising on Iwo Jima
It was family day on base and we were able to see
the new Marines and their families walking about.
It stirred up my own patriotic pride
and thankfulness for the country God has given us.
It thrilled me to see all of these new Marines
and their friends and family that support them... that support us...
that support our military and our country.
The children noticed them, too. Especially our son.
Interesting how the Lord has given men, young men, and boys
the desire to protect and defend.
Will said that one day he wants to fight the war.
What an opportunity it was to remind and explain to him
that first we need to fight in God's battle and be soldiers for Christ.
It also reminded me to examine myself
and evaluate how well I am doing at being a soldier for Christ.
On the way off of the island, I couldn't resist taking a photo
of one of our favorite signs... yes, a road sign.
We chuckle everytime we see it...

If you didn't happen to see the other favorite sign
we posted quite a few months ago,
be sure to check it out... It cracks us up, too.
