Moments in an Empty House...

Posted in Military Matters

It's been an interesting past few days

finding ways to fill our time in our empty house.

Yesterday, the children and I went to the park for a little bit.

We enjoyed the fresh air and playing together.

We also picked up a few new wooden puzzles

for the children to play with...

Since our table is packed and moved out,

we've been eating supper together on the rug in our dining room.

It's actually been quite fun!

The children enjoyed a snack there, too...

While Ally enjoyed a nap on the recliner we're leaving behind...

Last night, darling hubby brought home a few inflatable mattresses

that we were able to borrow.

He and Will enjoyed inflating them together...

And the lil' girls had fun watching...

In the evenings we have been enjoying listening to

some Christian radio programs together.

We are enjoying spending more quality time as a family

as we spend our days and nights in the empty house together.

But we also look forward to getting into our new home

when the Lord is ready to send us there.

Friday, October 20, 2006 - Funny....

Thoughts shared by Happymama

It's funny how we can have none of the "comforts of home" and still have a great time with family, isn't it? How precious!
Sorry I haven't been commenting. School is keeping me busy. I have been reading though! :)

Saturday, October 21, 2006 - I'm glad you're enjoying some extra special family time!!

Thoughts shared by abrightnewdawn

I actually have a slightly similar circumstance to share...as we were making our last transition we had sold our trailer and still had 2 1/2 months to go, when our pastor invited us to stay at the church. Needless to say, a HUGE blessing. BUT... what a learning experience to share a small room together, with privacy from others, and a kitchen area that was NOT kept private. We all did a lot of adjusting, but most of the time enjoyed it SO much. Of course, we were VERY glad to arrive here, intact, and be blessed with a spacious home!! :) Still praying!!

Sunday, October 22, 2006 - I'm having bittersweet...

Thoughts shared by Suzanne

...thoughts as I read your past few entries and some of Ally's. As an Army Brat, I remember days spent in relatively empty homes. Now, my children are radio ministry kids. :-) (We've moved some, but not nearly as often as my family moved with my dad's tours of duty.) My dh and I have basically moved ourselves (with help from friends & sometime family), so we've not experienced the empty house issue as such. We've only moved five times since living in our first apartment... 13 years ago. So far, we've lived in this place the longest... nearly five years! (That's about the same length as the longest time that I lived in one town while growing up.)

Well, sorry to be so word-y. just strolling down memory lane, I guess. Hope all goes well tomorrow!
