Thursday's Things... Enjoying Moments with Daddy...

Posted in Daily Life

Our week seems to be flying by.

Only a few more days till my beloved leaves for Iraq.

It seems we’ve been keeping pretty busy

but we’re also trying to spend time with him before he leaves.

Today he and the children worked at putting the trampoline up.

It’s been laying in our backyard since we move in

so the children were excited to get it put together.

They were also excited to do it with their daddy.

They all lined the poles up on the ground…

Then they worked to get the bottom of it put together…

Ally sat outside writing a story…

But also helped her daddy where needed.

She did help him turn the trampoline over…

Then Dad and the younger ones continued putting it together…

Then they worked at putting on the poles…

It started to drizzle so they all came in to wash up for supper.

Dad finished the net as they washed up.

They look forward to getting to use it tomorrow.

It blessed my heart to see them working with their Daddy

and to see all of them doing it so well.

We’re gonna miss him when he’s gone.

Today our ‘Daddy going away’ gifts came

(I mentioned them in a previous post).

We plan on giving them to the children the day he leaves

so I will share them after that.

Well, I guess that’s all for now.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

How nice that he was able to work on that with the children before he leaves. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers. I will say that I got teary eyed reading your post. My heart is actually poudning right now. I pray that the Lord give you only the strength that He can provide for you and your family.

Last year right before Christmas, my husband left for Iraq. I love the ideas of the gifts you bought them. When my husband has to go again next year, we will look at doing the same.

One thing that helped my girls was being able to each give
Daddy something to remind him of them. The summer before he left, they each had won a little camouflaged monkey...each a different color. David took each of those, so that he would have his "three little monkeys" with him. Our Family Support here on base also has a "Pillow Case Program." We sent them a digital photo or two, and they put the photos on a pillow case for us to send to him.

We will be praying for you and your children, as you gear up for this hard trial.

Oh wow. It must be a bit difficult as the day that he leaves draws near. Though it is a good and honorable thing he is doing, and we are ever so thankful for his service, I suppose that won;t make the time any easier.

You and your dear children, as well as your husband will be in our prayers. How long is he set to leave for? Is this his first time going? We have a dear friend, actually our former pastor, who will be leaving on Tuesday for 120 days as a chaplain out there. He is excited as well as weary of leaving his family. Our son could be called up at almost any moment. He is a fireman in the Air National Guard.

Not that we want to keep them from doing the duty they sign up for, but our mother/wife hearts beat a little bit faster and a little bit heavier when the time comes.

I'm glad the children will have the "gifts". I remember reading about them.

Bless you all. ~ madeleine (dearmercy. I can't seem to sign in anymore :( , it won't let me)

Hi there. I just wanted to stop by and say that we are praying for you. I pray you and the children adjust easily this week to the changes going on. Don't forget to lean on the Lord, you can't do it without him!
