Today’s learning moments were quite informal.
Since the children were visiting the dentist this afternoon,
I printed out a few ‘fun’ pages about teeth for them to work on
that I got from enchantedlearning.com.
Ally and Will learned about the anatomy of a tooth
and identifying the different teeth.
The lil’ girls colored a picture of a tooth
and drew pictures of their own on the back.
As Ally did some book work,
Will found our “Take-Along Guide: Berries, Nuts, and Seeds”.
After reading through it,
he asked if he and his younger sisters could go outside
to hunt for nuts or berries to identify.
He knew he had seen some outside before.
So he and the lil’ girls went out hunting
and came back with a few ‘treasures’ to identify.
He led the girls through the book
as they examined and identified the nuts they had found…
He sorted them in piles according to what kind of nut they were…
It was a precious time of learning.
In the afternoon, we went to the dentist
for all of the children’s dental appointments.
All went well, except Ally had to get a filling,
but she actually ENJOYS going to the dentist,
so it wasn’t a problem.
Will did very well
and the lil’ girls only got their teeth counted
(to get them comfortable with going).
This evening, before going to bed,
the younger ones were eager to use their new toothbrushes…
Lots of clean smiles in our house!
A very sweet post. You're kids are so dear. Hey, I had a commenter ask the question "do you think it is wrong to put your child in public or private school?" I'd love it if you stopped by and added any thoughts to that question.
What is it about a toothbrush from the dentist that makes it more exciting than a toothbrush from say, Wal Mart, or maybe in your case, the PX? My kids are the same way. LOL
And I'm impressed with Ally's attitude toward the dentist. I am terribly afraid of them. LOL Although, I am thirty five years old and have never had a cavity! But it doesn't matter, I'm still afraid of them.

Looks like a good teeth brushing crew you have. How sweet that your ds led his sisters in the science lesson about the berries. I love to see siblings interact in a loving, caring way.
