Out of the Mouth of Babes...
Posted in Joyful Mother
My heart was blessed this morning
when my son shared what he read
during his quiet time with God.
He shared with me that he read in Matthew 4
about how the devil tried to tempt Jesus
and how Jesus didn’t give into temptation.
We discussed how Jesus responded
to the devil using Scripture
and how powerful God’s Word is
to fight off temptation.
He said how he really liked that chapter,
how he never really thought about it that way,
and was glad he learned that this morning.
Later, as he was praying over lunch,
he asked the Lord to help him
fight off temptation and to obey.
He asked Him to help him
be more like Jesus.
“And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read,
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?”
~ Matthew 21:16
“But Jesus said, Suffer little children,
and forbid them not, to come unto me:
for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 19:14
“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child,
the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 18:4
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” ~ John 3:30

Sing Me a Song, Mama...
Posted in Joyful Mother
This evening, as I was putting our son to bed,
he asked me if I could sing him a song.
It had been a couple of nights since I had sang to him
so I told him, “Sure! What song?”
I thought he was going to pick one of his ‘usuals’
but he surprised me with a different song.
It was one that I already knew, but hadn’t expected him to request.
He said, “Can you sing ‘Trust and Obey’, please?
Because that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Oh, how that melted my heart!
I sang him two stanzas of “Trust and Obey” and we said our good-nights.
Oh, how I thank the Lord for those moments
when He allows me to see the tenderness in my child’s heart.

Daddy Moment...
Posted in Joyful Mother
Ally and I were sitting in the dining room yesterday evening,
as she was crocheting.
I could hear sweet sounds coming from the living room…
It was my dear husband reading a bedtime story
to the younger children.
I enjoyed listening in…

Daddy moments are such precious moments.

Sharing Photos...
Posted in Joyful Mother
The Wordless Wednesday that I posted today
motivated me to take the children out
to take some up-to-date photos.
It was a bit chilly (especially by the water)
but the children had a good time.
They played in between photos
and we met a 'new friend'
(which I hope to share about later).
Here are the photos we were able to capture...

Here they were playing a bit...

Here are a couple of photos in color...

What a blessing it is to be able to capture
moments and memories of our precious ones like this.

Happy Birthday, Beth...
Posted in Joyful Mother
In celebration of Beth's 4th birthday...
Four things we love about Beth...
1. She gives preference to others (is quite selfless for a lil' one)
2. She is loving (freely offers hugs and kisses often)
3. She delights in saying "yes, ma'am" and "yes, sir" (in her sweet voice)
4. There is laughter in her eyes
Happy 4th Birthday, Beth!
We love you!
(Be sure to see her photo in our previous post below!)

It Must Run in the Family...
Posted in Joyful Mother
Want to know what I wanted for my 13th birthday?
I wanted a really big dictionary.
Yep! It's true.
I have long loved words.
I love the dictionary. I love the thesaurus.
As an adolescent, I spent time reading my dictionary,
marking particular words that I really liked.
I did the same with my thesaurus.
I love reading. I love words.
Why am I mentioning this?
I'm not sure really. I suppose as an intro to share the following photo.
Yesterday, when I walked into the den,
I found my son sitting on the sofa
silently and intently reading through
our Webster's 1828 Dictionary...

It reminded me of myself.
It was one of those moments that made me giggle inside
as it blessed my heart.

New Song Playing... "A Song for Mothers"...
Posted in Joyful Mother
I thought I would change my song for a little while.
The song is called "A Song for Mothers" by Abigail Miller.
Her link can be found in my sidebar.
This song encourages my heart every time I listen to it.
What a wonderful reminder to see our children
through the Lord Jesus' eyes.
I hope it blesses your heart as it has mine.
(please forgive the minor skip in the beginning)
"A Song for Mothers"
I think this is the hundreth time I've said, "Don't slam the door".
And I know I'm getting tired of sweeping Cheerios off the floor.
There's peanut butter on the kitchen curtains I've just made.
And finger printed windows in every room where they have played.
Sometimes I feel like changing diapers is all I'm living for,
But Lord, when I'm before you, I know there's ever so much more.
Please help me to remember these words that you have said
That I may see my children through Your eyes...
Whatever you do unto one of the least of these,
You have done it unto Me.
A cup of cold water
A kiss on the knee
Whatever you do, you've done it unto Me
There are toys everywhere I look. There's laundry in the hall.
There are school books in the kitchen, colored pictures on the wall.
Sometimes I grow to envy those whose house is always clean,
Who have time to do the projects of which I can only dream.
Sometimes it seems like motherhood is a never ending chore,
But, Lord, when I'm before You, I know there's ever so much more.
Help me to see that everything I do can be a way
To offer up my services to You...
Whatever you do unto one of the least of these,
You have done it unto Me.
A cup of cold water
A kiss on the knee
Whatever you do, you've done it unto Me
Suffer the little children to come unto Me.
Like little children is what you wanted us to be.
There's so much we can learn, Dear Lord,
When we see our children through Your eyes...
Whatever you do unto one of the least of these,
You have done it unto Me.
A cup of cold water
A kiss on the knee
Whatever you do unto one of these,
You've done it unto Me.
Whatever you do,
You have done it unto Me.
"Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me."
Matthew 25:45

Below is something that I compiled for a homeschool meeting

I thought that it would be appropriate to post this
after my previous post referring to a Titus 2 Challenge.
Let our love be in action...
