Today I was reading a post on titus2daughter's blog and was really encouraged about the latter part of her recent post... about what your name means. (Thank you titus2daughter!)
My name, Alexandra, means Helper of Mankind.
I pray every day before I wake up, "Lord, please let me to be a help to my family today..." I know that by helping others I'm serving the Lord, and that's what I'm on this earth for. I try my best, doing dishes, help clean, be joyful, encouraging, ect...
This brings me to a point. It has been my life's desire, and I highly believe God's will, that I be a missionary's wife. In doing so, it would be a help to my future husband, the world and lost souls around me, and serving the Lord. I would have so many chances to help people spiritually, and maybe even physically. (Funny, I never thought about it 'till now, but God has given me a distinct interest in Human Biology. Hmmm....)
But I feel the Lord is calling me to be a missionary's wife, and I even pray about it! He has given me such a deep passion for lost souls, and the ability to witness.
I love learning about other cultures, and my high interests are Greece, India, Austrailia, Germany, Rome, & England. So, so many people are on their way to hell and God needs more people to be willing to do His work in spreading the Gospel.
I've cried thinking about those people that are lost, who never even got a chance to know. How sad!
I was really inspired reading missionary biographies, and talking to missionaries that visit our church (whom we support). I love reading and hearing about how God helped them help others.
I read a mini-story of how God is the light, and we are his lighthouses. We need to let God's light shine through us, so that we can reach to the lost. But, dirty windowpanes don't let much light through, so we need to make sure and constantly clean our 'windows' to shine God's light.
I have decided to dedicate and give my life to God, and be a living sacrifice. I want more than anything to be God's 'lighthouse'... his Helper of Mankind.
Alexandra... 'Helper of Mankind'... Interesting how the meaning of my name is what I desire for my life.
