Falling in Love with Jesus...

A while ago, the Holy Spirit laid this particular 'topic' up my heart.

I entertained the possibility of writing a book about this, if God wills…

but I decided to at least get the main idea out.

While so many young maidens long for romantic relationships,

few realize that it’s already there!

We are loved with an Everlasting Love,

and our ‘Prince’ is waiting for us with His arms open.

We long for someone who loves us, understands us, listens to us,

protects and cares for us – is crazy about us!

As I mentioned in a previous post, this is a good desire… a God-given desire.

Doesn’t it only make sense that the One who instills

these desires knows how to fulfil them?

What is important to realize is that marriage on Earth

represents our relationship with Christ.

Everything that we desire in marriage, we have completely in the Lord!

A while ago I was searching for some ideas,

and came across a ‘Divorce Proofing Your Marriage’ list

and got some ideas of how to fall in love with Jesus.

I altered some of the list and added some of my own to fit my subject.

  1. Make our relationship the most important thing.
  2. Go the extra mile to serve.
  3. Be a good listener – read His ‘Love Letter’ to us. (the Bible)
  4. Spend quality time alone with Him. – Just go to a quiet place and talk with Him. Have ‘dates’ with Jesus!
  5. Say “I love you” a lot – frequently tell Him of your love and affection.
  6. Make Him our best friend.
  7. Praise, and not critisize – don’t complain or be angry with Him when something didn’t go our way; rather thank Him for what He brings upon us. He uses troubles to draw us closer to Him
  8. Be quick to ask forgivness.
  9. Go places / do work together – do things with Him, keeping Him in our mind and talking to Him. I frequently find myself just talking out aloud to Jesus… He’s really there and does listen!
  10. Give gifts to Him – surrender what He asks for (our time, talent, etc...).
  11. Look the best we can for Him – He is a neat and orderly God. When I get dressed, I like to think, “Lord, what do you want me to wear?”
  12. Tell others about Him – A bride-to-be has trouble finding anything else to talk about then that she’s getting married, and all about her fiance’! How much more should we tell others about the One Who has won our heart!
  13. Take an interest in things that interest Him – Funny how a girl ‘in-love’ starts to take interest in her ‘special someone’s’ interests, that, maybe, she never really thought of before! – “Study” Jesus. Get to know Him better and enjoy the things He does as well as depise the things He hates.

Falling in love with Jesus isn’t some make-believe fantasy…

it’s not just something to help us ‘survive’ until a husband comes along.

Knowing Jesus… it’s a real thing – He’s not a ‘pretend friend’.

He’s there… always was, is and will be.

“Delight thyself in the Lord;

and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Psalm 37:4

There is a song by Jars of Clay (I'm pretty sure that's the group) which talks about falling in love with Jesus. I really like it! It's called "Love Song For A Savior".

I put it on my blog a while back!

There is a book by Sarah Mally I think all girls have to read, called "Before You Meet Prince Charming". It deals with having a purpose bigger than marriage, being radiantly pure, and such important topics! I think you'd really like it!
Here's the link!

What an amazing post! I visit your mother's blog alot, so that is how I learned about yours. God has given you an amazing gift with words. My husband is our church's youth pastor, so I work with the teen girls a lot. I pray that they exhibit the kind of love for the Lord that you show in your posts.

PS...if you wrote a book containing these thoughts-if they are anything like your posts- I would definitely buy one...what a treasure they would be for any teen girl.

I am a Christ-loving maiden of 14 years, surrendered to the will of my King to be a missionary's wife. I'm currently at a "9th grade" education level. I have been homeschooled for 8 years. My dad (and knight in shining armour) is a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. My mother is a seasoned maiden who spends her time in the castle teaching and training her maidens and knight-to-be. I am the oldest of four children. I have a knight-to-be, brother (8) and two wee maidens (4 and 3). This is where I will share my thoughts, my accomplishments, events in my homeschooling days, what the Lord is teaching me, and more.
