Delightful Day, Dangerously Delicious Desert, and Done!

Noted in... Leisure of a Lady

Sorry I haven’t written in a while.
I’ve been really busy getting school started back up again and errands.
Anyway, Tuesday, my friends came over for lunch and dinner.
We had lots of fun and we ended up baking – which we love to do,
you can see from other posts a while back!
We decided on a chocolate cake we’d never tried before, and started with our alterations:

½ cup           butter or margarine
2 cups          sugar
1                  egg
1 tsp            vanilla
2 cups          flour
½ cup            packed cocoa
2 tsp            baking powder
½ tsp            baking soda
½ tsp            salt
1 ½ cups        milk

Beat butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla.
In separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients;
Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
Pour in a greased and floured baking pan.
Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
Let cool in pan for 20 minutes,
then cool on wire rack before frosting.

The frosting recipe given was:
½ cup               margarine, softened
2 ½ cups           powdered sugar
½ cup               baking cocoa
1 tsp                vanilla
2-3 tbsp           hot water

But, we decided to go with Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Frosting.
It made it so rich and chocolate that I couldn’t eat a whole piece!
(Which, being lactose intolerant, I shouldn’t have been eating it anyway!)
Here is a picture of the finished project:

My friend frosted it, and I decorated it.
So fun and yummy!

Also, Will and I started a hard 600 piece Global Puzzle Monday.

Well, we finished it today, and I’m so happy!

It took a lot of work, but it was fun.
Well, I gotta go take supper out of the oven.
Please pray for my mom recovering from oral surgery today.

The cake looks delicious (I love chocolate cake!) and the puzzle looks great! I like doing puzzles myself. My sister's and I just finished a 500 piece puzzle today.

Hi Ally! I've been to your blog before, but forgot the link. Happy Mama alerted me to your blog again, and I'm glad she did! I now have it bookmarked, and hope to visit again.

I really like the title of this post. =) I enjoy making this with words that start with the same letter. The cake looks delicious as well. Good job! I enjoyed the pictures!

I am a Christ-loving maiden of 14 years, surrendered to the will of my King to be a missionary's wife. I'm currently at a "9th grade" education level. I have been homeschooled for 8 years. My dad (and knight in shining armour) is a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. My mother is a seasoned maiden who spends her time in the castle teaching and training her maidens and knight-to-be. I am the oldest of four children. I have a knight-to-be, brother (8) and two wee maidens (4 and 3). This is where I will share my thoughts, my accomplishments, events in my homeschooling days, what the Lord is teaching me, and more.
