Hand-performed and Home-done Hair Styles

Noted in... Leisure of a Lady
For Christmas I got a self-hair styling book, and ever since,
I’ve been trying new hairstyles; on myself and people who will let me.
Although there’s almost a whole section (a pretty one, too)
that I have to skip because my hair is too long.
(An oxymoronically good bad thing, I suppose!)
I’ve personally favored putting my hair up in a bun,
which I was never able to do until it showed me in 3 simple steps
and now I wear my hair in a bun when I feel like putting it that way.
Not lately because I’ve been and still am very sick.
I’ve never been able to do buns, so this was a great accomplishment for me!

Excuse the thin hairs poking out here and there,
my hair is very hard to handle.
I’ve also done a sloppy French herringbone, French braid,
braided chignon, and a regular herringbone on myself,
but haven’t had photographs of them.
On friends I’ve done twists, rolled braids, French braids,
herringbones, and  French herringbones.
Again, I didn’t get photographs.
But today, my dear sister Beth was kind enough to lend me her
doll for a few minutes to try a ‘not so sloppy’ French herringbone on her.
And I can definitely do them better on others than myself!
(Though I’m better at French braids on myself than on others)

I like that style, and perhaps I’ll practice more on myself.

Well, January’s almost over, and I didn’t give the poem of December,
so I’ll give January’s real quick:

“Sunshine, flurries, & frozen pipe worries.
Testing easing – coastal blow, island snow!
Melt song won’t last long.
Chilled to the core worth waiting for!
Sled dogs mush through rain and slush!”

Well, I’ll be going so mom can detoxify the premises I’m currently occupying.
Have a great week and stay healthy!

Hi Ally!
My Mom was recently reading your Mom's blog and said you were sick. I'm sorry and I hope you feel better.
Lovely Hairstyles! I understand what you mean when you say buns are hard. I was wondering (if it would not be too much trouble) if you can tell me the title of the self-hairstyling book? I've got to go do some school,
Bye-

I have tried so many times to French Braid. I have never been able to figure it out. You did a great job with the bun regardless of the stray hairs. I think the strays are pretty anyway. :)

Justin showed my mother your blog and she just loved it and was blessed by it. She wanted to know if that was you singing. I told her no, but I could bet you had a great singing voice.

Anyway, great job on the bun and the braids. Would love to see more!

Hi Ally! How are you feeling. I hope you are feeling better. I have a cold now, so everything is sort'a ssssllllowwww-mmmootttionnn...........:-D
Hopefully you are feeling better. I do like how you fixed your hair! I can french braid, but not on myself! l'll have to practice on that, but your arms get ssssooooo tired after you have them up there for a while. My hair is down to my waist so I have to REALLY rest my arms before and after I do a french braid, even if I get through the first part, it always turns out sloppy on me. :-O My mom can french braid on her self though and it looks real pretty. :-D

Better get out of here, it's fun "talking" to you!!!!!

Love in Christ,
'~_-*Brittany*-_~'

HI there! As I said, well done on the bun, but I just noticed the "do" on your sisters doll you did. You did very well. I personally love that one and had forgotten about it until I saw your styling book the other day. I would've liked to try that one on your hair. Maybe next time. Keep up the great work and take pictures too!

Hello Ally,
how are you doing? Hope all is well. I'm sorry I didn't get to see you while we were up in NC. I wanted to come over but I stayed with a friend who's dad is in Iraq for her sweet 16. I grew up with her when I was little in OKinawa. I remember playing with her in the 3rd grade, lol. Good memories. I'm praying for your dad while he is away too. I'm also praying for you as I have heard your not feeling well. I haven't done much with my blog. I haven't had too much time to do anything with it, I find myself busy with other things. I did do my friend's blog, awsomeness. Well, I should be in bed now, hee hee. Mom said I could post a comment first. Love you, can't wait to see you soon, hopefully! God Bless!!!

I am a Christ-loving maiden of 14 years, surrendered to the will of my King to be a missionary's wife. I'm currently at a "9th grade" education level. I have been homeschooled for 8 years. My dad (and knight in shining armour) is a Marine in the United States Marine Corps. My mother is a seasoned maiden who spends her time in the castle teaching and training her maidens and knight-to-be. I am the oldest of four children. I have a knight-to-be, brother (8) and two wee maidens (4 and 3). This is where I will share my thoughts, my accomplishments, events in my homeschooling days, what the Lord is teaching me, and more.
