Your American media at work, bringing news to you
Faked, that is.
Headline: Reuters admits altering Beirut photo
A Reuters News Service photograph from Beirut has been shown to have been "enhanced" (faked) to show a much more dramatic picture of damage. Little Green Footballs brought this up yesterday, and today we learn that Reuters News Service has suspended the photographer. (I can't get the direct link to the LGF post about the doctored photo to work - scroll down from the home page to find "Reuters Doctoring Photos from Beirut?" to find a very good, detailed explanation of the photo manipulation.)
This is important! A major news source is faking the news to manipulate you. It's been going on a long time, I'm sure, but it's getting more blatant now.
There are some interesting links in the Ynet article, including one about a Reuters employee suspended for issuing a death threat to blogger Charles Johnson of LGF.
My usual caution: if you read comments on LGF, you might come across vulgarity and profanity. Don't let that keep you from the site, though. It is a fantastic source of news.
Oh, I just tried to check my link to LGF and couldn't get a connection. Try again, if you have trouble. It's really worth reading.
