• Sep. 11, 2007 - Reusing dryer lint?

Posted in Homemaking
A few weeks ago I picked up a book on frugal living from the library.   It didn't seem to be very well edited; there was a lot of repetition in it.  For example, twice within the first couple of chapters the author assured the readers that this wasn't one of those frugal living books that talked about reusing dryer lint.  I guess I should have been relieved to read that.  But I was just curious:  for what purpose do people reuse dryer lint?  And, if they are reusing it, for what purpose did they use it the first time?

I'm afraid I didn't get far enough into the book to learn the answers.  If anyone reuses, or just uses, their dryer lint, please enlighten me.  I'd love to know what I'm missing out on.  I just throw my dryer lint away.

The only thing I can think of to use dryer lint is as a firestarter . When we are planning a camping trip , we will save it to help get the fire going easier .

We are about to do a special project for our study of the Renaissance & Reformation. We're going to make paper. One website I came across mentioned using dryer lint as part of the ingredients for our paper. MANY of the websites I came across discussed how frugal and how earth-saving reusing dryer lint, old paper and t-shirts is when making paper and how we should be making our own paper regularly. eeek. I guess that will be the next big thing to sweep the homeschooling community after everyone gets over breadmaking.......LoL!

How could you possibly throw away this precious resource? Don't you know how bad that must be for the environment.

Maybe we can blame you for the melting icebergs as well?
