Hi everyone!
I know I said I would post pictures from New York right away...and that didn't happen. But as it turned out, there weren't any pictures. Long story short, I didn't bring my camera. :(
Still, Phantom of the Opera was more then a little bit mind-blowing..and then I babysat these kids who know all the songs and own the movie...more about that on another day, though, cause I've got something else I want to talk about.
I've always been verrry sensitive to critique. Like, if someone reads something I've written and they don't immedeatly go blind from the sheer perfection of it all, I want to kill myself. Well, not kill myself. But never, ever write again. Generally my writing is in the form of stories, but I recently went on this poetry kick and now I'm poetry-obsessed. I ended up writing about three poems and wanted some input- because one really good friend read them and said he liked one but...but...he would never say he DIDN'T like them.
I am not a true artist. I refuse to continue on in my pursuit if it seems futile, despite Emily Dickinson.
So I did it. I got a true poetry scholar's input.
It was absolutely accurate.
I haven't actually read everything he said, because just staring at the words '...you're running it into the ground...' was enough pain and realization.
I am no writer. I couldn't put into words what was wrong and it was staring me in the face!! I ran it into the ground.
Eventually I'll go back and read everything they said but for now I'm just deleting my poems off my goodreads and editing the life out of them. Well, not the life. Just the extra junk that was stifling them.

Thats to bad, did you have a fun time in New York though?
All of your entries are very poetically written, they are so pretty! I personally think that you have a talent and you should pursue your talent!
